Re: Been a long time - but I'm back!!

Yes, I figured I can make the time, even though I am busier now than ever. I missed the banter and the updates as to what has been going on the the Carver audio world!! I will post later about what has been going on since I stopped posting a while back, but I will save that for when the wife and kid...

Been a long time - but I'm back!!

I figured I'd reintroduce myself since it has been over a year since I posted anything. I have been gone for a while, but will try to get back into the swing of things. I haven't made many switches to my setup over the last few years, but did add some new speakers to my bedroom - oops make that my p...

Audio Engine USA - W3 wireless audio adapter

I recently purchased a W3 wireless audio transmitter from Audio Engine Usa for a buddy of mine. He wanted to be able to be able to control his I tunes library on his laptop while sitting by the fire pit at his camp. I told him about the Audio Engine setup a little while ago and he inquired about it ...

Re: List "you gotta be kidding me" audio tweaks

How about the good old Madrigal Labs carbon fiber CD Mat for $400 or so? Any of you guys own one of those goodies. Or the Optrix CD Pen (you color the edge of you CD's - this one is a little more manageable @ $30)?

Vintage HiFi of Pittsburgh's New Digs

Just wanted to let you all know I recently visited beemers (Tom) new shop and all I can say is..... HOLY CRAP! The amount of Carver and Sunfire gear got me hard!!! I couldn't believe my eyes. (My ears were loving it too with Bob's tube amps cranking! Tom is such a standup guy. I was able to pick up ...

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!

Hello, it has been a long time since my last post. Now that hunting season (deer) has come to a close, and I work has finllay slowed down, and I am finally ready for the holidays, I just thought I would chime in and wish all of you that celebrate Christ's birth, a very MERRY CHRITSMAS!! I do plan on...

Re: Defect (THE PREAMP EDITION)

Jesse, There is a small dealer here in CNY that carries the Joule line. It just so happens that he also sells Merlin speakers. Is this a match the dealers are also aware of? I have seen Joule on his website, and it looks like quality stuff, but unfortunately it is out of my league, so I have not had...

Re: Will it ever stop??!?!?!?

Thanks. I can not get over the clarity of this unit. I can not believe how pristine it is. The sound is phenominal. And it lets the music flow to the TFM without any sort of restriction. I am hearing stuff in recordings I didn't know existed (well, I should say, I didn't know existed until I cranked...

Re: HR-772 help

Setup was easy. Just pulled the pre-out/main-in jumpers out and split the signal. One side went to the TFM-55 and the other went back to the main-in of the 772. (Had to feed power back to the unit, otherwise the headphone jack had no output. Then, I ran the speakers from the TFM. For a short while I...

Re: Will it ever stop??!?!?!?

Okay, unit arrived today. Came home from work, ate dinner and set to work. It was easy to figure out, a few kind forum members got me the information I needed (Thanks to you know who you are!) and reconfigured my system. Let me first say, that holy shit, this unit is near mint!! I mean, there wasn't...

Re: HR-772 help

Welcome aboard. I too had a 772 that had some output issue. All mine required was some resoldering and touch of of some cold solder joints. Took it to a local shop as well. (I'm in Liverpool, NY - whereabouts are you located). As far as using the 772 as a pre, I bought a TFM-55 last August and used ...

Re: P.O. Box 1142

Really cool. Great find. I think we need more stuff like that to be put in front of the public. We sit here fat and dumb just worrying about the stars on the boob tube and what they are doing with their lives. A lot of shit goes down that we don't know about, and in reality some of it we shouldn't k...

Re: Will it ever stop??!?!?!?

Thanks Kingman.

Thuffman, yeah, I know it only gets worse. Just look at the string of components in your signature. I'm just lucky I only visit Tom (Beemers417) once a month or so. I'd be divorced by now if I lived in Pittsburgh!

Re: Zappa's Most Fascinating Guitar Solos~

I used to listen to Zappa all the time when I was in high school. My best friends' (their twins) older brother had just about every Zappa album. And man did we play them. A lot, and loud. Believe it or not however, I only have a copy of Joe's Garage on CD (burned one at that). I just never ended up ...
