Re: av806x

Welcome to the forum. You need to run RCA cables to connect the two. From the Yamaha connect the Front Left to Front Left or channel 1 on the Carver. Repeat for each channel so that all channels are connected (one at a time using RCA cables). Run speaker wires from the Carver ONLY to your speakers. ...

Re: Power Conditioners...??

Great question . . . I currently have two power conditioners. One is the baby Monster Unit - Model 1600 (I think) and the other one is a Furman Elite 15 - DM. I really do not notice any difference between the two other than the Furman is a larger unit with nearly twice as many plugs as the Monster. ...

Re: Speaker wiring question from Member

Thanks very much for the quick responses. I knew you guys would know the answer. Rabbit . . . I will be using a 6 way Rotel speaker selector that I have had for about 10 years. Is is impedance matched and will be attached directly to the power amplifier. It keeps a constant 4 ohm load on the amplifi...

Speaker wiring question from Member

It has been a while and I have a question I am hoping someone can help with. I am building a new house which I wired for audio myself using in wall 4 conductor wire. In many of the rooms I looped through a box and back up to the ceiling mounted speakers. In the loop I plan to install a volume contro...

Re: Best Power/Amp under 400 dollars..

Since it seems most are leaning towards Japanese gear, my pick is the Luxman M -03. I have no idea what a used one goes for but this is a really cool amplifier. The specs are very similar to the Kenwood. I recently heard one at a party and was really impressed with the sound. Later, when I had a loo...

Ouch . . . thanks for the responses. Much appreciated.

I think for that price I may just hang onto it and use it as a spare.

Approximate price for M 1.0t

Hey guys . . . have not posted here in quite some time so please forgive me. I am thinking of selling my M 1.0t to help finance the purchase of a new power amp. I am the second owner and it is in great shape. I had the flimpsy speaker terminals replaced a few years ago by a guy who works on pro gear...

Re: Carver convert. Hi.

jonesy:

The little adapter I was talking about looked something like the following. Your wire would connect to the bottom end.

Re: Carver convert. Hi.

jonesy: Welcome to the forum. Congrats on the new Carver gear. Sounds like a great setup. You are correct, some of the older Carver amps do not accept bananas and have kind of cheap receiver type binding posts on them. I had the same issue with my M 1.0t and the solution for me was to have the bindi...

Re: Happy camper

Thanks Bill. I will have to do a bit more checking on this. Shipping to Canada is $65. I believe I also pay 13% HST (Tax) at the border and likely some duty and other fees. I checked into the duty some time ago when I was going to buy something from Ebay and think it was around 10% on electronics. E...

Re: Happy camper

Guys . . . thanks for all the great advice. Bill I am surprised that the DACs are better than the TG . . . but then again I have heard nothing but great things about the Oppo players. The Web is full of reviews, praise, discussion groups, etc. The Oppo SE is $899 (I believe) since I live in Canada, ...

Re: Happy camper

Henry . . . thanks for the udpate. Jag . . thanks for the info on the Oppo. Since my Big Box store player died I am looking to spend about 500 - 800 bucks on a replacement. I looked quite seriously at one from Pioneer Elite, the Denon and of course the Oppo players. My theatre consists of a DLP TV, ...

Re: Happy camper

Henry . . . very nice and welcome to the forum.

What do you think of the Denon Blu-ray player? What is the audio section like? I am thinking of buying one to replace my Samsung player that died after 13 months and has no warranty. :( :(

Re: Need some advice from the Carver members

I would try another speaker selector switch and see what happens. Get a good one with 200 watts or so of power handling. Also it must be impedance matched to keep a constant 4 ohm load on your amplifier irregardless of how many pairs of speakers you are running. Run thick wire from your amp / receiv...

Re: Question: Carver excels in their Amps (only)?

Bill D . . . great response. I never really considered sources; but of course they to can make a huge difference as well. I suppose I wanted to upgrade the amp first as I saw it as a sub $500 purchase (especailly in the used realm). Speakers would be a $500 plus proposition with the sky being the li...
