Re: Best Transister Amp in the World

Perfact amp? I have not seen one. I do not have or claim to have perfact ears to hear diffrence between cheap amps ($100) and real expensive ones(10K or higher). But I can hook up function generator and oscilloscope to see what kind of wave form changes are made by the amps at verious frequencies. E...

Re: Send your poor, your tired...Rita's needs YOU!

Unfortunately, we are living in Wal-mart and Costco age. Bob & Rita are asset to our Carver equipment but sadly, most of Carver equipments are not holding its value high enough to justify their premium service.

Re: Operational status of Carver and Phase gear

M1.5t has 250v rated output transistors with 125v top rail. M1.5t is much underated amp. M1.5t can really take some beating. I think m500 uses 150v output transistors at 74v rail. If every things are equal, I prefer M1.5t for power and headroom.

Re: Some issues with the AV806x amp

Some where on the web I heard AV705x replaced AV806x. If that is true, by nature of many Carver designs design sharing, they might have same configuration. On AV705x main switch is just conventional AC switch. By nature of contacts of switch, soon or later you need to replace it. You can try the de-...

Re: CARVER PM-1200 Amplifier excessive buzz

Can you disconnect everything and see if you still hear hum? If you do your amp has problem. If disconnecting solves problem, you have ground loop. Ground loop can be from : not limited to, cable box, cable or dish TV, long line to projectors, long line to subwoofers...etc. You just need to reconnec...

Using Carver Pro for home use

Anyone who uses Carver pro amps for home system can share your experience? I came across Carver PM1.5 and M1.5. I found they are electronically identical except input stage, cooling mechanism and PM 1.5 has bigger mag coil. Is there any sonic signiture or badwidth differences?

Re: Carver PM 1.5 amp Fan

If you use 3" fan, it will fit in to pm 1.5. You don't have to stick it out side. 12v cooling fan has come to long way thanks to abundunce of computers. They are cheaper and better in quallity than any other fans on the market. Some highend 12v fans have ball bearings rather than copper sleeves. It ...

Re: Carver PM 1.5 amp Fan

I just modified pm1.5 fan circuitry to use with 12v computer fan in dual speed. PM 1.5 uses ~40 v to run fan originally. you can remove most of parts from fan controller board then rewire them using 12v zener diod and any good npn output transistor to make 12v supply. Good reference diagram can be p...

Re: TFM-15cb Meters Repair or Replacement

If your meter is not physically touching anything, you can lubricate meter movements with 1/2 drop of silicon spray stuff to free it up. While you in there feel the IC just below level control knobs see if it gets to hot to touch and check two 2.2k ohm 2W registors and see if they are discolored. Th...

Re: M1.5T Question/OCCD

By looking at the schematic of M1.5t. I do not see bridge circuit. I have M1.0t (inverting) MKII modified which has some what close output levels to M1.5t. I connected 150W bulb in bridge mode for ammusement. It was way cool to look at that. Before thump mod, turn off thump made 150w bulb glowing li...

I have a TFM-55x that the right channel is weak and distorted but the left channel sounds fine. I was thinking of trying it in mono mode for my center but since the left channel works could I use my AVR pre-out for the center and run my center off just the left channel or would I cause permenant da...
