Re: New speakers

Glad you got it worked out, you now have two pairs of my all time favorite speakers. The Silvers were a true match for my Klipsch Chorus II's, my all time favorites, each had their own strengths and weaknesses I could have lived with the Silvers for sure but at the time there was no ribbon repair op...

Re: New speakers

Very nice! I'm sure the Klipsch is doing just fine, those older SW subs are actually quite musical I'd take one over many of the newer (cheap) home theater inspired subs any day. Happy 4th!

Re: New speakers

I just spoke w Doug, and I believe I am going to pickup the Sunfire speakers, thanks Wayne! I am also have an email in to Ed on having the ribbons repaired on the Amazings. Congrats, those are very nice speakers! I don't see a subwoofer listed in your main setup in your signature, those little ribb...

Re: New speakers

While the AL-III's and Sunfire ribbons are both nice they do not compare to the Amazings that you already have, I'd take the suggestions here and have both of your ribbons repaired rather than spend more money only to take a step back in quality.

Re: CARVER RESEARCH LIGHTSTAR REFERENCE

Still too much money. I paid less than he wants for a pristine Lightstar amp and preamp. ray At $2500 its getting more reasonable and will likely sell if he comes down much more. As much as I like the idea of valuing things at the "I bought one for this amount" or "I've seen one sell for this amoun...

Re: CARVER RESEARCH LIGHTSTAR REFERENCE

Toymaker has a pile of brand new Lightstar parts last I heard, maybe he'd sell a new faceplate if someone were to buy it? :-k

Re: Recap TFM-55x vs TFM-55

I don't know the answer to your question just remember Rita at Bob's old repair shop complaining about working on the newer "X" series amplifiers, I guess the boards were mounted upside down and had to be removed to work on them and then re-installed to test them. I would guess just replacing old ca...

Pretty cool, thanks for sharing! Love the description of the new speakers, wonder how they compare to the older Silvers or Platinum's? :-k

Re: Carverfest Cabin Reservation "Hierarchy" Updates

This is where we run into problems. It seems that the 'long time attendees' pretty much have a lock on the event as a whole. I was speaking in terms of 'sharing' an event that is starting to outgrow the venue. I also think it's unfair for people who have attended for more times continue to be given...

Re: CarverFest 2018 Cabin Reservations

This amp build "at cost" is basically creating a huge financial incentive ($2000) for people to go to the fest if for no other reason but to cash in on said incentive. Maybe such large give aways should be kept in secret until much closer to the fest or once the bookings are already full.

Re: CarverFest 2018 Cabin Reservations

Wow, missed all of this until just now, can't believe Mark has been run off! :-s Seniority as in years attended should take absolute precedence no matter how many days planned to stay, the core group IS Carverfest, is it not? Watershed profits should be the LAST thing on anyone's mind in terms of bo...
