Re: Question about honeycomb woofers

Thanks Mark...I appreciate the input.

It's more of a mechanical clunking noise rather than the sound of the driver bottoming out, as if something has come loose inside the unit.

I'll disconnect the thing and run it with three on the one side until I can source a replacement.

Cheers again

Question about honeycomb woofers

Hello and Happy New Year! I have a pair of amazing originals and one of the woofers has developed a kinda clunking noise. I wonder if this is something a moderately competent person can repair, and if so how one might go about it. Also, is it okay to simply disconnect the damaged driver and continue...

Just to add a little meat to the bones. As an Adsense partner, you have the choice of displaying pay-per-impression ads or pay-per-click ads. Which you choose will depend on what type of site you operate.

You can use a proxy to hide your IP, like here http://hidemyass.com/ I'd recommend anyone with Firefox to install the Ghostery add-on www.ghostery.com That'll block out those shitty ads and you can also prevent tracking. I have no axe to grind with the other site, but I do most of my surfing anonymo...

Re: Another Ribbon Fix Attempt - please talk me down...

Thanks for the thoughtful response, Robert. In my assessment, I hadn't thought to separate the two sides of the magnet support, just to loosen the screws enough to free the PCB's, then try to fernangle some movement/tension, outwards, in the horizontal plane (horizontal if laying on a bench[the spea...

Re: Another Ribbon Fix Attempt - please talk me down...

It's quite humid, but nothing like being down in say Florida or LA....I'm in NE Wisconsin. And it doesn't actually equate fully to humidity, it's really just the warmer temps. At the start of Summer the humidity was low, but the 75+ temp was enough to get the left side buzzing. It's odd really, the ...

Another Ribbon Fix Attempt - please talk me down...

Hello folks, Please indulge me for a minute whilst I try and explain my thoughts and ideas - I have a set of Carver originals with the Plat 60" ribbon upgrade. I bought them in January, one side buzzed, and now, in the warmer weather of Summer, both sides buzz like a kazoo. I've investigated as many...

I also tried to contact the fellow who offers rebuilds on these, but never heard ba...

Re: WTB - Platinum 60" Ribbons or complete speakers

angelod307, Just in case my email didn't come though, please email me at carlh @ netnet.net What I basically said in my email was that I really don't have a specific budget in mind. I bought the speakers at a low price and planned to hold out for another set appearing on Craigslist, so I could do so...
