Re: DIY fusing guide

That picture brings back memories ... I can attest to the fact that the wrench that's listed as a 2kA slow-blo is up to the task for arc-welding. ;) I had placed one on the seat of an FXR for safekeeping while I was removing the starter core, and the "fuse" slipped off of the seat and landed, bridgi...

Re: Carver tuners

Sadly, AM is all but dead at this point. The number of stations on the elder band that are in their final days is stunning. It can't go on as it exists now. ... Only a handful of the major stations are left in the black. ... One thing that I have noticed is that the AM radio stations that are in th...

Re: XLR or RCA

XLR connectors can be either balanced or unbalanced, depending upon wiring. RCA is unbalanced. If the question is intended to ask whether unbalanced XLR is better than unbalanced RCA, I don't think it matters. If the question is intended to ask whether balanced XLR is better than unbalanced RCA than...

Re: sunfire signature has no earth/ground?

Let me clarify the opinion expressed in my previous post: We know that fused neutral is a problem. An amp that has a fused neutral needs to be fixed. We have been told that Surdo's used amp, which had been modded in the aftermarket, came to him with a fused neutral problem. He did some research, cal...

well, you know how it goes -- there's always a tradeoff between features, build time, and price. choose any two, give up the other.

Since I always work in small quantities I just use a nibbler.

Wouldn't any good CNC chassis shop have the IEC punches?

Re: sunfire signature has no earth/ground?

If anyone wants to test to see if the amp could actually be wired safely, but still has a color-coding violation, it's simple enough to check with a VOM. Check for continuity between the neutral pin on the power cord and the white wire going to the fuse. If you have neutral going to the fuse then yo...

Re: sunfire signature has no earth/ground?

> Not sure what to say here. Perhaps white was used as the color for hot on the Sunfire chassis?? I know exactly what so say here: Sunfire fucked up. BIG TIME. If you've got a white wire on the fuse, then your amp is wired unsafely and it's wiring is a violation of the safety standards. Putting all ...

Re: sunfire signature has no earth/ground?

From the photos above, to me at least, the power supply does not seem to be modified and lacks an earth. I'm really disappointed that your pictures have been posted for so many days and none of the smart guys on the forum have pointed out the obvious problem. It jumped right out at me as soon as I ...

Re: sunfire signature has no earth/ground?

Hey Martin, take note: everyone needs an electronics expert to fix an amplifier but nobody needs a linguistics expert to fix an amplifier. Your commentary isn't even germane to the thread. You're in the wrong forum. You should be looking for a linguistics forum. Stop and think about this for a minut...
