ALIII, Silver, Platinum, Amazings

What's are the differences between these speakers?
Which are inefficient? Sound quality? Power handling?
Which are preferred?
There's an opportunity for Amazings nearby.

Re: Power amplifier plugged into pre-amp switched outlet?

The current surge from charging supply caps in the amp during power on far exceeds the preamp switch rating, and the switch eventually fails. Replacement switches are hard to find. There's a thread right now under "Repair" for a C-4000t with a bad power switch. I see preamps on eBay with failing pow...

Re: [[[[Gas alternatives and savings thread]]]]

It amazes me such stupid trash who know nothing are elected. Congress is going to run the oil companies? Right, like how the corrupt government of Zimbabwe seized farms and now runs them. Those people are starving, and the white farmers are farming in Nigeria. If congress ran the oil companies, we'd...

Re: [[[[Gas alternatives and savings thread]]]]

That would have worked in 1973 when there was less demand outside the US. In 2008, any oil we pump will be applied to world markets. It's not as if our price will be $100/barrel, and everyone else $175. Any oil we pump will be applied to a worldwide supply/demand gap. Frankly, I don't like to share....

Re: Carverfest Manuals Exchange

I guess you've never had to fix an amp with a poorly scanned manual.
Schematics can't be read.

Carverfest Manuals Exchange

We should do a manuals swap/sale at Carverfest.
I have quite a few owners and service manuals.
Can swap or sell to cover copying cost.
Or maybe we bring originals and all pile into 9 cars for a Kinkos run.

Who needs what?
Who can bring what?

I need a readable PM-1.5 service manual.

Re: Drilling for oil in the U.S.

The Russians are doing the same to BP; seizing assets after expertise and expensive infrastructure is in place. Oil companies earn money in two ways: from the free market price of oil they extract, and from services such as exploration, drilling, and refining. More and more, the large integrateds ar...

Re: Drilling for oil in the U.S.

Cheap Fuel in Emerging Markets "Today's oil market is really the story of two different worlds: the industrialized West and Japan -- where soaring prices are killing off demand; and the OPEC countries, China, and some other emerging markets -- where still-rapid economic growth is outweighing any imp...

Re: Drilling for oil in the U.S.

Not to worry, from Yahoo! news: "The influx of so much fresh money into the energy markets has caught the attention of federal watchdogs. The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission recently said it was six months into a probe of U.S. oil markets focused on possible price manipulation. The commiss...

Re: Drilling for oil in the U.S.

We'll have to see if laws change (when Bush leaves) that allow investment banks to be classified as commercial investors - those that produce oil. Hence the oil tanks in Houston. This following explanation is not at all simple to understand, but the idea is that long only oil hedge funds are gaining...

Many things the gov can do, but those people don't know anything, and their time horizon is the next election. 1) Drop national speed limit to 55 2) Reprogram traffic lights for fuel efficiency rather than the current packet based system. 3) Deliver mail 3 days a week 4) Design requirements on vehic...

This link shows what deep trouble we are in: http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2007/04/09/dangerous-curves-ahead.aspx Existing well rates are declining steeply, while demand is escalating. Discovery rate is near zero. As well rates decline, oil producing countries will become oil importing count...

It's inevitable there will be a population crash. Without fossil fuels for fertilizer and to power modern society, we are back to the 2B or so people an agrarian society can support. Chinese will be able to transport the oil because that dumbass Carter gave back the Panama Canal.
Now do you guys understand why we need oil reserves to fight our next war?
