While the AL-III's and Sunfire ribbons are both nice they do not compare to the Amazings that you already have, I'd take the suggestions here and have both of your ribbons repaired rather than spend more money only to take a step back in quality.

The AL-III and the Silver Amazings both used identical, interchangeable 48'' ribbons. Differences in sound can only result from the angle they sit at and crossover variations.
I'd certainly keep those Silvers at this point, and get both ribbons rebuilt. Both, for two reasons: the new ribbon material is thicker and a different impedance than the stock factory ones, and thus has slightly different voicing. And the still-functioning ribbon probably is on its last legs, anyway.

As I've said more than once, don't change out just the worn out front brake pads on one side...

Congrats, those are very nice speakers! I don't see a subwoofer listed in your main setup in your signature, those little ribbon speakers are very dependent on a quality sub or two to get the big sound out of them I believe they are only rated 100hz and above just so you know.

Was thinking the same thing. Will need a quality sub Chris.

Yes, the EQ. its about a half-hour from my Florida house.
Expect it to need some new capacitors anytime soon, if not right away. After running it, shut off all input to it; it should stay 'on' for around 10 minutes, at which point you'll hear a soft staccato sort of pop, telling you it has automatically shut down. The sooner the shutdown, the worse shape the caps are in. At some point it gets so bad that it will only turn on at all when there is a huge bass drum hit, and you get to hear the last half of that, after which it shuts off again. This is something I can fix.

The speakers are on the way! Thanks Doug! (And the referral Wayne)

Still waiting for a word on ribbon repair.

I think I am going to try these out with the Klipsch sub for awhile, since I just started back to work this week.

Thanks again for all of your help!
