Yeah, you are right! Have a TFM-45 coming to power the mains. Then we'll see where it goes after that. :D

LOL, forgot all abouth the sub did'nt I. It just sits there and hides. I've got a Polk DSW pro 1000. It's not a big sub, but does a pretty good job.

Re: My system

I now am the proud owner of 3 pieces of Carver equipment! I now have a TFM-45 power amp, a C-11 pre amp, and a CT-6 tuner/pre amp. Today I hooked up my Polk SDA 2B speakers to the TFM-45 with the C-11 and my CD player. Put on a little Frankie Goes to Hollywood. It's a CD that will really show you how your system is doing in just about any range from the birds chirping to heavy bass. Great sound! I could only run the volume up to about -10DB, and at that level, the sound was smooth as silk. Nothing seemed strained, or even close to being overdriven. When the wife goes to work, I might crank it up a little more. :D The Proton gear was really good, but this Carver equipment is better. I tried both with and without the subwoofer, and those Polks did a fine job without it. Hooking up the TFM-45 to my Pioneer 84TXi HT is a challenge. I'm still working on balancing this out, and getting the mains set up right. That's my main PITA with this Pioneer. It has so many adjustments to make, but you don't get to actually listen to the sound as you make a lot of them. Anyway, all in all a great day :) I'm Very happy with my new, vintage Carver equipment.

Welcome to the pleasuredome. IMHO if you want to really test your system, it's a great album. It has everything from very quiet passages with the birds chirping to heavy hitting bass. And the music is good too :)

Re: My system

I have that little POLK micropro sub out here on my deck under my Adirondack chair. I have it set to just pick up the deepest notes as my mains do the rest. Depending on the music, it comes outa no where and shakes the porch. I bet if you fiddle with it a little, it will really work a dvd over.

Re: My system

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Sunfire TG IV. Found one that's nice. Now all I need is to find the 7400 to go with it. I'm going to get my system sounding great without having to switch pre amps to the mains all the time. :D
