Me stuff
Finally, I purchased a Carver C-1 preamp and a TFM 55 power amp..This set up sounds absolutely wonderful..The Adcom cannot hold a candle to the 55's imaging and soundstage, not to mention the raw power it produces. The California Audio Labs CD player is warm and close to vinyl..I'm going to update to the Delta Transport and DAC..
After reading of the cheap bell wire Bob used in his speakers, I broke out the saw horses, a soldering iron, a schematic and rewired the speakers and crossovers with 12 gauge Monster. I also replaced the wood screws holding the grilles on with rivnut inserts and real 10-32 screws. My living room looked like the Carver plant!! I was a little nervous when I fired them up after the rewire, I was either lucky or good, because they sound great!!
I had a C1 Preamp, but just wasn't too pleased with it's sound, it sounded flat and plain....I believe it was tired and needed rebuilding..All I know is the C2 sounds much better, and I've been told the c1 and 2 share the same components..But it did take me 3 different C2's until I found this one..One sounded like crap, and the other had a hum, even when grounded..
I have added the C-9 Holo Processor..I'm still experimenting with the different modes, but it adds much space and imaging to the sound..
I'm enjoying this forum, and meeting all the other Carver fanatics out there..I was wanting to make Carverfest 2010, but job requirements prevented it..I'm looking at attending 2011...Hope to see everyone there!!!!
