Another classic Infinity lover

Post by rwhite1203 » Mon Dec 29, 2014 5:07 pm

Here's my setup:

Sunfire Cinema Grand Theatre II
Sunfire Signature Cinema Grand
Sunfire Signature Stereo
spare/backup
Sunfire Cinema Grand Theatre II
Cinema Grand

Signature Cinema Grand driving Infinity RS-1b front and RS625 center channel. Signature Stereo is driving Infinity 4.5 for the rear. Spare units I use to test my restoration projects which have included Bose 901s, Infinity Betas, RS II, and currently another set of RS-1bs.

I would like to replace the Signature Cinema Grand with a pair of Signature Stereo to drive the 1b's to match the rear along with a smaller amp to drive the center channel. Plus eventually my goal is to get another set of Betas and they like more power!

That's awesome! I'm huge Infinity fan, too. My first pair of good speakers were Infinity Qa with the EMIT tweeter. Then much later on I got Infinity Reference Series Kappa 9s, and finally Genesis 350SE (another Arnie Nudell company). In between, a couple of years ago I got a Kappa Video II center channel and just yesterday I got a pair of Kappa 5.1 series II to round everything up!

There's something about Infinity speakers, just like there's something about Carver equipment, that moves my heart.

I had the pleasure of talking to Arnie Nudell a few times in the phone, he's lot of fun to talk to, not as much as Bob Carver, but still fun =)

A few months ago I had the opportunity to buy a set of Betas locally for $4,500 and I let it slip away. Man, do I regret it! Then I turn on my Genesis 350SE and I feel better.

Classic Infinity speakers (as well as Genesis speakers) are awesome. Definitely keepers.

Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.

Welcome, Robert. I am a big fan of the classic Infinity speakers, also. Which do you like better- the RS1b's or the Betas? In your opinion, how do they compare?

Bob

Hello I really like classic Infinity speakers also. I have a pair of Kappa 8.1s driven by a Parasound P5 Pre, a Carver TFM-25, and a Denon 2800 dvd. Upstairs a pair of Infinity reference 3, hooked to a Carver HR-752 and JVC cd player. Downstairs in the surround room a pair of Infinity Alpha 50s, rears consist of Infinity reference 2000.6 and matching center channel with a 12 inch Infinity sub and a push pull 12 inch M and K sub. Side note I have a Carver M1.5 T amp that I hooked up to the 8.1s and it sounded amazing. Only problem is needs to be rebuilt because of all the humming.

In case anybody is interested, there's a pair of Infinity 8.1 for $400 in Austin, TX. That's an awesome deal. No affiliation, just saw it in Craigslist and thought somebody here might be interested.
