The Onkyo now has no front channel power outs.

My 300x2 has power, but no output.

I am ready to fucking scream.

Time to rip it all apart tomorrow.

I hope to god my amp or speakers arent damaged.

Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.

Well the news is better than worse, I dismantled the entire system and tested everything seperately.

The amp and reciever are fine, but the fuses were blown on both speakers.

Now both speakers work , but the ribbon on one ( the one with the 2 magnets out of place since my purchase) is not working. Should I check all the speaker connections? Or is the crossover or ribbon damaged?

My wife pulled the fuse info. Which stated to replace the stock 4A fuse with a 3.2A or 3.0 A.

At least the amp fires up.

Any suggestions?
Chris

My earlier post was BS. I remember stuff but forget how old the information is. The classic way to match a power amp output to a line level input was to use transformer coupling - the purists said that resistors would mess up the response, or whatever. Never believed that, and always used resistors myself, and that's just what the Z1 turns out to be - cheap and simple, a voltage divider, basically.

I think you need to suspect that already messed ribbon as being open. An ohmmeter will check that in a hurry. Just cut cut the red and black wires and hook up to it directly. It should read something under 4 ohms - 3.6 is typical.
Either way, it needs rebuilding ASAP - if we ever find some ribbon material somewhere in this part of the galaxy.

In the future, 3 ohm resistors would be better. I use them in all mine, and they never seem to blow.

I am looking to buy Martin Logan Monolith or Aerius for $400.

Any thoughts? Anyone on here got something to trade for my TG-IV ?

These will hold me over until I ship my Amazing ribbons to be rebuilt.
