New speakers

Post by cring08 » Sun Jun 10, 2018 7:35 am

Good Morning All!

We just moved into our new rental home in Cape Coral,FL.

My Amazing ribbon with the loose magnets finally crapped out. So, I am debating these two options:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/SUNFIRE-CRS3-C ... Sw441a9nFr

Vs.

https://sarasota.craigslist.org/ele/d/c ... 08399.html

I also will be needing an inexpensive phono pre.

As always, I really appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

Chris

AL3 seller says he never ran them with over 30 watts. No wonder he's selling them...

Chris
Agree with previous comments. AL 3's is the choice between the two. Just make sure their is no ribbon buzzing. Take a CD with some piano music. Of course if demo with only 30 watts a channel as driving force may not reveal buzzing.
Would he let u bring a more powerful amp to hook up to test for ribbon buzzing? See a Sunfire in your list. Is that a possibility?

Dave is right...the Sunfire is for 1 speaker. The AL III are the way to go anyway.

Let s know how it turns out.

I’d jump on the ALIIIs. Great imaging. Can handle big power, and they’re Carver loudspeakers. They NEVER go out of style.

Yeah, there are 2 ads for the Sunfire speakers, totalling 1k. One NIB.

I am calling him tonight to see about bringing my 300x2, since it is not hooked up yet anyway.

I will, head up there Tues or Wed since I have to rent a van or SUV for the ride.

On repairing the ribbon, my one Amazing needs a repair
