WHOOOO WHOOOO !!!!!!!!

Okay, I am going to have to change my signature. The wife has been genourous and the GODS have been smiling down on me. I finally got a pair of POLK SDA-1B's or C's - not sure exactly - been confused on Polk forum site and Polksda.com. Here are some pictures of my new toys. Went over and auditioned them last night at the guys house - only 10 minutes away and he delivered them to my door tonight. Cosmetically they are not perfect, but they pass the wife test (which I am surprised she did not keel over when she saw how tall they were). (She isn't into big speakers mind you!). They came with the original interconnect cable (pin/blade). They sound great. Now I will have the displeasure of unloading one of my other sets.

Here they are:

Now what she doesn't realize that I am going to have to splurge on at least a TFM-35 or higher (or M1.5t). Well let that one play out for a little bit. I'll let the waters calm down for a bit.

Re: WHOOOO WHOOOO !!!!!!!!

Thanks OOBI. I see engtaz and F1nut are regulars on the Polk forum. Was wondering if they could help determine my exact model number. It appears it is not an exact science from what I was reading prior to buying these. All I know is I am so stoked. Almost as good as Rachel Ray stroking some ears of corn - the polk guys will know what I am talking about.

Re: WHOOOO WHOOOO !!!!!!!!

Very nice speakers, maybe buy another pair and stack them upside down on top of those, then get a pair of TFM-75's and... :-#

In all seriousness, those look nice and I'm happy for you. I had a TFM-35 and preferred the M-1.5 by a decent margin. Also maybe look into RichP's M-1.0t MKII, it's fantastic!

Thanks.

Re: WHOOOO WHOOOO !!!!!!!!

You'd think they have a model number plate somewhere on them, wouldn't you? Don't worry, if anyone knows exactly what model they are it will be F1nut.

Re: WHOOOO WHOOOO !!!!!!!!

They both have name plates, unfortunately it only states SDA 1 Left Channel - Serial Number L SDA 1 7934 and SDA 1 Right Channel - Serial Number R SDA 1 7910. All I know I am very happy. I really liked the Paradigms, and was even contemplating upgrading my 5seMKIII's with a pair of 7seMKIII's that were about 40 minutes away.

These were on Craigslist last week, and I called they guy. He had a higher offer from a guy in Michigan, but he felt that the man may balk once he got the freight quote. Sure enough, he called me Sunday saying the other guy backed out and he had someone else locally email him for what I offered. He called me back because I called first. Talk about KARMA.

Yes, there are some scratches and the grille fabric could be replaced, but sonically these are kick ass. I may have to replace one woofer as it was acting up a little at higher volume when we first hooked it up, but it seems to have gone away (maybe a slight shift in something when moving?) If it appears again, he has some replacement woofers at home, and said to give him a call if it keeps acting up. (So far it has been quiet, so I'll keep my eye on that one).

I have been playing them at a relatively comfortable level (da' rats is in der beds), and they seem to be opening up sonically somewhat from when we first hooked them up. I am truly happy! :D :D :D :D :D

Re: WHOOOO WHOOOO !!!!!!!!

Nice find, as you have already found out, SDAs are tough for newbs to identify and even a little tricky for the masters too ! I've got 1As and those that you have are definitely newer/better models. To help those who are trying to help you with the ID, you might want to take clear close up pics front and back, and also remove the PRs to take pics of the XOs inside the cabinets. You will be urged to replace the tweeters and rebuild the XOs,don't fight it, the Polk diehards know what's best! I have only got a TFM-35 (at the moment),and can assure you that my SDAs sound incredible when driven by that amp. Enjoy!! Polkfest is this Friday &Sat. in Balt. MD, hop an Amtrak and show up, might be fun and informative ! :D Geoff

Re: WHOOOO WHOOOO !!!!!!!!

Thanks engtaz. I thought so because of the PIN/BLADE interconnect cable arrangement (saw that on one of the wiring schematics I downloaded last night from Polk forum). I am just freaking amazed at the bottom end of these babies. It seems to have no bounds.

The only situation I have right now that I can't remedy immediately is getting the speaker away from the fireplace mantle. (It is a full wall mantle - so no don't panic, it is not near any direct heat!!!!). I did move it further away than the picture posted originally, about 2+ feet away. Doesn't seem to affect SDA too much.

I am truly a POLK fan now!!! (Is there such a thing as "OCPD"??) :)

If you get a TFM-35, you can make into the most powerful Carver amp excepting the silver-7/9t monoblocks and the ultra-rare TFM-75:

see the last post (this mod also works on TFM-35's).

Re: WHOOOO WHOOOO !!!!!!!!

I just looked and you don't meet the 2000 - 1800 = 200 post count. But by the time it gets to the 3rd person on the list you'll probably be there.

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5912

The Rules:

2000 posts in the Carveraudio Forums (those with more than 200 posts receive an 1800 post credit)
Must pay insured shipping to the next person on the demo list
Must let me know when the shipping box needs replaced so I can ship a new one
