I need a CD/DVD source .

Hey Guys

Now that I have replaced some resistors and recapped my 6200, I need to find a decent source unit. I was feeding the aux input with a Zune until I plugged in my laptop media (read headphone output) into it. The sound was incredible but impractical. Any suggestions are appreciated.
The oppo 980HD looks pretty cool for multiple duty and lowball price.

I have an Oppo 970 and really like it. You won't find a better player anywhere for the money, and they are made in the good ole USA so service shouldn't be a problem. I'd say go for it. To get better sound you'll be paying thousands, not hundreds.

That's not EXACTLY true...the newest model, the 983, is good for both. 'Tis expensiver, though...

I was referring to the DV-970H as no longer being the current model and having been replaced by the DV-980H. The DV-981HD is the model for Video on the cheap adn the DV-983HD is the best of both, but MUCH more expensive.

And BTW, I seriously doubt that any of the Oppo models were ever made in the USA because if they were, they would cost 3 times as much. American designed, yes, American made, not a chance!

That's the real killer, though, because unless you open it up and inspect the parts, you don't know whether they substituted inferior counterfeited parts for the ones they were supposed to put in, to save money and further the cause of Chinese world domination, all under the knowing eye and support of the Chinese government

Bill, you shouldn't be so paranoid about Chinese made stuff. Not everything from China is cheap OR counterfeit. If everythign they made was that bad, how do you think they could afford to OWN the United States of America for the next 4 generations?

In fact, only a small minority of the products we get here are so; it just because you always hear tons of bad press from the American propaganda machine when there is a case but never any good press when the stuff is both good and legit. Just so you know, most American made goods enjoy a reputation just as bad, if not worse than Chinese made goods in many parts of the world all depending on what their local political propaganda machines tell them to believe.

Well, I'm glad I can buy American milk!

The Chinese hardly have a monopoly on palsy relationships between government and big business. One milky example: The corporation that makes the synthetic growth hormones that are now in most American milk have gotten the current regime to allow them to NOT be required to say anything about it on the label, and furthermore they have made it impossible for those competitors that refuse to use that junk to mention that fact on their labels.
