Throughthewire's system

Main setup:

Magneplanar MG IIc speakers
Sunfire True Subwoofer Mk II

Carver M 4.0t amplifier
B&K Reference 30.1 preamp

Mac Mini
Toshiba SD-3950 DVD player (temporary)

Upstairs:

Magneplanar MG Ic speakers

Adcom GFA-535 amp
Hafler DH-110 preamp

Toshiba SD-1700 DVD player

Disabled: :(

Carver M 500t

Gone: :( :(

Carver M 500t


I expect to be adding a Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD or similar Blu-ray player, bigger Maggies with ribbons (maybe 3.6Rs), a Maggie center channel and surrounds, and a Sunfire Cinema Grand amp or an array of Carver amps to the system some time over the next year or so.

Welcome throughthewire~! I have not followed up currently as for the release date. A lot of members, well maybe not a lot, ok, a couple here including myself are waiting for the OPPO Bllue Ray. Check it out:

Welcome, throughthewire =D> =D> -- I didn't see this post before I replied in another thread welcoming you aboard. I asked there about what speakers you were running (you'd mentioned the Magnepans over on that thread)....and now I see your entire inventory! Nice!!!!!

And yes I'm one of those who is also registered with Oppo and watching for their release of the new Blu-Ray player, too.

Bob Carver built a time machine and went back in time to stop the JFK assassination. As Oswald shot, Bob met all three bullets with sound waves from a subwoofer he built, deflecting them. JFK's head exploded out of sheer amazement.

Hmmmm... Never heard of them before, but I haven't been paying much attention to new gear for the last several years. The Audioholics folks certainly are gushing about it, and it would be substantially less expensive than the Pioneer Elite I was considering.

By "registered," I assume you're on the early adopter/beta tester list.

I will eagerly await your impressions and opinions!

Maybe I'll take some pictures over the weekend. My house is torn up right now with remodeling and new furniture, so the system is not as 'sexy' as I might like.

You can register at their website ( http://www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-83/ ) for news releases/behind the scenes info on the new player.
