Re: Mike's Toy

Are the A22 woofers blown or just in need of foam?

Re: Mike's Toy

I've had them boxed up for the last 10 years, if memory serves me there is 1 tweeter that is toast and 1 woofer. But by now I imagine that they will probably need new foam. Also have 1 PR that has the center that has become unglued. I guess once the old lady gets her junk out of the basement the I'll take them out of the boxes and look at them again, maybe refinish the cabinets, one has a side with a small chip taken out, an old freind years ago was moving out and hit the cabinet with a bed frame. The guy wasn't decent enough to save the chip that came off the cabinet.

Re: Mike's Toy

I think I finally figured out how to upload pictures. So here is what I have, the only one missing is my DTL-200 which is going in for repair. Now let's see if this works. \:D/

You really have to scale them down before posting :?

Re: Mike's Toy

Nice Carver components but what would look cool between each component is isolation feet. There is a guy on this forum that made/and sold such isolation devices but I can't remember his name? Who was that? Here are just a few links; but the feet I'm thinking about were chrome, ummm.

Re: Mike's Toy

I have been thinking of making my own, seeing as i am a journeyman machinist with access to a CNC Lathe, it would take like all of 5 minutes to run a bunch of them off. Biggest expense would be buying the aluminum, but if I check my scrap box i might have some already.

The top speakers looks like Monitor 5's with RDO's. What is the second speaker pic?

Re: Mike's Toy

Engatz , you are correct about the 5B's, the other speaker is a pair of Reynolds Advance A+ made in Hampton NH. I bought these in 1982 they were a really great sounding speaker, but now I have toget all the surrounds redone and while I'm at it I will upgrade the X-overs. The cabinets are in really good shape considering how many moves that they have made over the years, still have original boxes for them (a little tattered but still do the job). The SN's on these are 480 and 491. From what I have tried to find out about them they are fairly rare, the people that made these were ex EPI/Genesis employees. If anyone knows anymore about these I would really be interested hearing from you.

Re: Mike's Toy

Just an update, I now have the Reynolds Advance A+ speakers refoamed, just waiting for a peerless tweeter then they will be singing again. Actually listened to the one that I have both tweeters in and I may have to upgrade the X-overs in them.
will have to listen to both before I actually do the X-overs though. It has been 16 years since I last heard these, and they do sound good. I will keep everyone updated as I go.
