Recent Upgrade - Whoo Whoo!!

Okay,

We know I've talked about it earlier in the year, well the time finally came. I just went and picked up my newest OCCD fix. I'm now starting to play with you big boys out there. Below are pictures of my "NEW to ME" - TFM-55!!!

I did some cleaning up on the face, and need to do a little more, but sitting in my rack, it's looking pretty okay to me. Internally looked good when I took off cover to blow her out.

Local sale to me, and was able to see it in operation before I bought it. Both meters and meter lights work, and does it crank out. (I haven't had a chance to try it out at home - 'de rats be sleepin' - but rest assured, as soon as I can, I will.)

Even at lower volume though, I notice some difference between my HR-772 and the TFM. Me likey lots!!

Looks very nice! but one question? I have never seen the inside of a 55 and this looks real clean, but do those bigger caps look like they are bulging at the top? What do you guys think?

I was just gonna ask that. Those 10,000µF 100v caps. The tops look funny.

Yeah, the caps are starting to show some age, and a trip off to Rita's will eventually be in order, but I'm going to play them for a while. They guy was the original owner, and it had never seen service. Relatively clean inside. Hey, for what I get around here locally, I'll take it!!!

Crave, that 55 will make those 1Cs sing like no receiver ever could!! I have a 55 that I bought w/problems and hope to send it to Rita soon. My SRS2s are very similar to the 1Cs, and they sound great with a TFM-35 now, can't wait for the extra headroom the 55 will bring to the party!!! Enjoy PS: Have you upgraded your XOs or tweeters ??

I haven't approached that. Right now, without my wife working yet (hopes to have a new job lined up for coming school year) I have to kind of keep things on the cheapo side. The TFM was a result of a better than expected bonus in from work and selling off some of my extra gear. Once she gets to working full time (which with schools - can take up to a year or more of part time or subbing) I will be able to put some extra $$$ aside for some extras. Right now however the next purchase will have to be a decent preamp to go with the TFM-55 as my buddy is buying my receiver once he can put together the scratch.

Beemers - thanks for the compliment. I thought it was a pretty good deal, knowing that I will eventually will have to send it in for service at some point. Plus it was local, so I could audition it and not have to worry about shipping the behemoth across the country!

I am liking my TFM 55 very much. Only had it two days since it came back from Rita but all I have to say is that I am right now.

Got to love all the power. I am not up to TNRabbit yet on my AL III's but I am getting there.

Patience grasshopper - patience!! I know Beemers said he would have me into ribbons eventually. I've finally heard them - thanks Beemers and thuffman, but, I must ..... resist...... the urge..... so..... strong.... !!!

Just kidding. I love my 1C's, and definitely don't have the room for Amazings (well - if I get rid of the wife and kids ). No seriously, if I were to jump to ribbons, it would probably be the ALS III's or +'s.
