Re: Carver PT 2400 build when?

I'm not to sure how the Carver serial #'s run.
But the Sunfire are 1st 2 #'s are the year of build
and the next 2 #'s are the week

Hope this helps, and welcome to the forum.

Re: Carver PT 2400 build when?

I don't have any official documentation as proof, but I'm pretty sure the Carver Pro serial number system works like:

91 4 330 000017 (spaces added by me for clarity)

91=year of manufacture
4=month (a letter code was used for Oct, Nov, Dec. I've seen the letter "K" used, but I don't know which month it represented)
330=product ID for a PT-2400
000017=sequential number for that month's production

Hope that helps!

Re: Carver PT 2400 build when?

Later Carver products (and Sunfire?) coded the build date into the serial number. For hypothetical example:

92 4 330 00017 (spaces added by me for clarity)

92 = year of manufacture (1992)

4 = month of manufacture (April), letters were used as well, I've seen "K"

330 = product ID (PT-2400, 120V power). One of my PT-1800's has what I believe to be a typo, as it is "322" instead of "332". My other three (and 2400's) are all correct.

00017 = sequential numbering within month's production. Wildly optimistic, I don't think they ever produced more than a few hundred of any model per month.

There was a revision for the big PT's, mainly just the details of powering the fan. This was worked out before the TFM-75 was derived, but it has its own fan and fan power circuit (quieter for home use).
