Post by mbskeam » Tue Apr 07, 2015 10:08 pm

been playing with my turntable a bit. (WTL)
looked all over the place to find an average of tracking weight. ya know what, I could not find a thing.
well, lets put it on paper so to speak......
Shelter 901 Specifications: Frequency Response: 10 - 50,000 Hz Recommended Tracking Force: 1.4 - 2.0 grams Output: 0.5 mV Stylus: Elliptical
went from 1.70G to 1.95G wow what a difference.
so play with those settings, ya never know what lies within....:--d

Back in the 70s, 80s & 90s when I had vinyl, I found that everything was happiest when set near the highest recommended weight for tracking.....

So true Mike. The Grado on my table is dialed in at about 2 grams, that's the sweet spot. I have Stanton and Ortofons for my Denon tables . My Stantons work best at 3.5 grams and the Ortofons at 2.0
