James, I know that the rules are different for buy/sell for newbies, but coming to the forum JUST to sell is different in my book. It is the definition of SPAM.

If you come on the forum, introduce yourself, maybe even mention that you have a piece to see if there's any interest by the members and then post it, that's different. Sure, maybe it's a ritual I expect. What I don't expect is some noob coming on here taking on airs. That just gets my hackles up.

It's Like I said before .......... NEWBEES MUST SMELL BAD....

This group sometimes seems a lil 'clickish" but at least entertaining...... and I will admit I recieved some great help from the "Pittsburg Hi Fi" guy (sorry can't recall his name)...

Not clickish, more like friends that protect each other and the site.

After reading Toymakers (admin) post concerning new people joining to sell equipment I must agree maybe we were a little harsh. vulkrypse actually posted a nice listing also giving his e-mail. I think vulkrypse would of agreed to a member visit to look over the component if needed. Some people have been burned with post just like this one, but I'm sure they didn't mean to take it out on you. Welcome to the forum, hope you consider staying around and you would then understand some of the personalities of our members. We joke a lot around here, but also are very knowledgeable. There was no personal attack there, sometimes our jokes seem to snowball amongst members. Good luck with your sell.

I must agree with BillD. How hard is it to introduce yourself, get a feel for the forum, and have a great time. It would appear that is not the case here. As for his load of carver equipment, that would have been a great starting point for an introduction.

Noob, If You can read through the BS and see the whole situation from our prospective,( and have a thick skin) we can make nice. Tell us a bit about yourself. Do you have your own audio shop in CA? What Carver equipment do you have? Your 752 is actually priced more in the range of a mint 772.

Noob or not, if it were a Lightstar, I'd be glad to have a 1st crack at it before it hit eBay.
And I'd expect a little graditude if I were selling it as a nob, to have offered it to the forum before going to eBay.
Not everyone has time, or even cares about forums to sign up. But taking the time to sign up just to offer things to us 1st is nice if you ask me.

I would think most people trying to sell to a forum know they will not get top dollar for an item unless it is rare.

Ah the holidays… gotta love em. Finally had a minute to come back... good to hear varied voices chiming in from around the forum community, now the opening salvos have settled. The sale thread’s policy was definitely a good read.

My intent has never been to dump any faulty gear. I had thought this forum more of a collector arena than a bargain bazaar. But I am open minded about offers, and can indeed host a forum rep to come by and test the gear. If someone is truly and seriously interested in purchasing a piece, I can have a rep visit me here in Irvine, CA to confirm the condition of the pieces.

Yes, pieces. I’ve decided to divest myself of all my Carver equipment. This includes the aforementioned HR-752, along with an HR-772 and two M-1.0t units. Once again, none of this is junk to me; it’s all prized possessions that I’ve treasured over the years, and I’m looking for a new home and an owner who will cherish them as I once did.

Thanks to all who take the time to read.

Very glad to see you came back. I am sure the rest of the posts will be positive from the peanut gallery.
Being in FL, and having way too many toys already, I will have to pass on buying anything myself, but wish you luck

Why are you selling ALL your Carver equipment if you don't mind me asking ???

I no longer the living space required to fully enjoy these units. I live in a smaller apartment now, and 800W amps will tear down these walls. LOL
