AL III+

I have a pair of black AL III+. I live in S Florida, and will be putting on CL soon.

My wife & I like the sound a bit better than my current fronts (KEF 105.4s) but they are too imposing, and my amps go into self preservation mode when driven too hard (They don't have a problem with my KEFs).

They sound good, but are only a 6-7 cosmetically. Toymaker helped me out by making new bases and tops.

What kind of price should I be asking for these?

I really don't want to ship them, which is why I'm using CL. Or if someone here wants them, make me an offer.

As they say in the neighborhood I grew up in, "Cash talks, bullshit walks..."

Since no one is helping me out with pricing, I think I will offer them for about the price of one of the ribbons.

It might make more sense for me to just cannibalize them and piece them out on E-Bay. Probably get $250 to $300 for each ribbon, the woofers would probably sell for $50 each, miscellaneous parts for another $100. Maybe get $700-$800 total for the parts, wouldn't need to try and pack the cabinets.

Paul...if you want to sell them together and the ribbons are good I think $400-$500 in the cosmetic condition you described is a good starting place.

I was thinking $450.

If anyone wants them, come and get them. I will be happy to fire 'em up. You can compare them against a number of different cone & dome speakers, including 3 different KEF's some JBL, Infinity, Bose and even some White Van Speakers (WVS). I'll probably post them on Craigs List this weekend.

Bring your most tone deaf friend, even they will be able to hear the difference between the WVS and the AL III+.

Ok, you want pictures, here are some pictures.

They look pretty good, and actually they really aren't all that bad unless you get up close. Pristine they are not, but you wouldn't be too embarassed to have them in your system.

I wasn't going to post pictures here because I figured nobody would want to come get them.

In case you are wondering, those little babies next to the AL II+s are some speakers I built, they are the rears in my HT. The turntable is a Thorens TD-126, and the receiver is a Sansui 9090 DB.

OK, I guess there are two turntables, the one in picture 1 is a little Pioneer Linear tracking TT, the one in Picture B is the TD-126.
