new here, ntb everything

Hi! I was referred here by the folks @polk. I'm looking to put together a $1 system Quality, well-cared for used components may be my best deal but I don't know what I need. This will be all music. I was looking at the Denon 1912 and a 5.1 for the deal I could get but am now looking for just a great pair of speakers for the same money. I don't need the Denon for two speakers from one source but I really want Airplay, and I'm way over my head shopping for amps & preamps. ](*,)
Any advice would be great. Anything you wanna sell me would be even better. \:D/

Re: new here, ntb everything

oops, meant $1k.

I'm looking at the Denon AVR 1912 and Polk Monitor 70's, 40's, & CS2 (all refurbs) for about $900 shipped. Looks like a great deal for my budget but I just don't think I need a HT setup.

I'm dedicating my 9'x11'x8' spare room for music listening. The only input will be my i-things. Airplay would be ideal.
I don't want to do this on the cheap but I can't go all out either. I just want the best i-system I can get for a grand.

I assume a nice pair with something pushing them that will take my crappy little sources will be my best option for SQ. I further assume that I can pickup higher-end pieces secondhand if I knew from whom & what I was buying. I shouldn't assume.

fwiw, most of my serious listening is audience pulls or soundboards of live performances. Clarity over volume if it's a tradeoff. I need it to sound excellent at ultra-low volume.

Thanks for the welcome

Hello and welcome to the forum. Have you looked at a Jolida FX-10 with a pair of used Focal 805 or 807V's? That would be a killer combo that would give you really good clarity and just enough sound to fill the room without going overboard. You can have both for under a grand and it would sound excellent at low volumes.

About $500.00 new for the FX-10 and around $4-600 used for the Focal's.
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.

I really dig my Peachtree Decc-o for MP3s, match it up with some sensitive speakers like Klipsch Heresys or Quartets, Fortes' etc. and I think you'd be pretty happy.
