How is this still for sale? If I had the money I would buy it right now. Why wouldn't I want 2 of these?

Re: Carver Lightstar Reference - 4 sale
AD is still up on A'gon, price seems a tad high to me, and a lot of others obviously since it hasn't sold after being up for a month.
Market is tough right now though and there's also a couple Sunfire 600x2s listed as well for less:
http://app.audiogon.com/listings/sunfire-600-signature
http://app.audiogon.com/listings/sunfir ... signed-per
And a Sunfire 300x2 for about a third the price:
http://app.audiogon.com/listings/sunfir ... d-invariat
Not sure exactly how any of these compare performance wise, I guess the Lightstars are a limited production item though, making them collectible.

The Lightstar is over built and dual mono. It's also a awesome sounding. I have never heard the Sunfires but I have been told that they don't sound as good as the Lightstar.

Who told you that?
I'll bet it was someone who has a Lightstar !!

The lightstars are really good looking and sound wonderful but Sunfire was what Bob could do with even more experience.
Take that from someone who has Sunfire power.

Re: Carver Lightstar Reference - 4 sale
I've never had the Lightstar amp but I was very impressed with the Lightstar Direct preamp. It was very revealing, so much so that most of my music collection at the time sounded like crap, had to ditch all my low quality MP3s.
That's what started my most recent FLAC file kick, trying to replace all my "lossy" downloads.
