Check the connectors for any sign of corrosion or oxydation at both the contact point and where the wire joins the connector. Cleaning them off with some Caig's DeOxIt wouldnT' do them any harm adn would probably make them sound a whole lot better. Actually, cleaning all contact points, jacks, plugs and connectors once or twice a year is a good idea.Augie116 wrote:Do cables degrade over time?????

Just cut them up, place in a box with a pile of dog shit and send them back to Noel Lee.

If you don't want them, I'll take them!
I have a set of the original Monster M1's (gray garden hose), and they were the ONLY Monster product that didn't sound like absolute crap in my rig...

These are the old grey garden hose(s) indeed - almost 1 inch in diameter. You bought them by the foot at that time (early 90s)
Not sure about the darth vader ends as they are in banana plugs!
They sound fine to me but i may not know what i am missing anyway.

So, Augie; did you get everything hooked up yet? How are you liking that C-1 preamp?

Re: OLD OLD OLD OLD Monster Cable M1
I definitely like the C-1. Just deciding now whether to run dual mono with my amps or use one for the bottom, and the other for the top.
I emailed the guy i bought the C-1 from to see if he still has the TX-11a as a companion, if so, i will get that as well.
There was a definite improvement with the C-1 over the CT-7 though.

Re: OLD OLD OLD OLD Monster Cable M1
Definitely bi-amp IMHO. If you have identical amps, go vertical.
It should sound like it isn't there!
