Transaction Problem with Member

I've been a memeber/lurker since Jan 30, 2007,
but have only 24 posts.

Where is the appropriate place for me to post about a problematic
transaction with one of the other forum members? Seems like
I remember a "Bad Sellers" section somewhere (before the forum
limited members with less than 50 posts access to all areas of
the discussion board).

Dennis, what's the problem and who is it with?
Political Correctness...defined

A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Re: Where to Post???

I've been trying to post a detailed acount of this transaction,
but keep getting "timed out". Guess there is a time limit to the
post feature. So...here's the condensed version.

transaction...TFM-45 amplifier
seller...........Magnaryder

sent payment for amp Apr. 17, 2009
received damaged package with amp Jun 3
posted problems with amp in Forum Repair Section under
view topic "TFM-45 Problems??? on Jun 6
filed a "Damaged Package Report" with UPS Ground on Jun 6

telephoned Rita to get repair estimate on Jun 10 and was told
$175 + shipping (and not to use the amp with my unfused SDAs)

UPS conducted a "Damage Inspection" and told me the actual
"Damage Claim" had to be filed by the shipper of record. I passed
this information along to the seller.

seller PM'd me on Jun 16 saying another person had shipped the
package for him. He would contact them.

Jul 6 seller responded to my PM inquiry saying he thought the claim
had already been filed. It had not according to the UPS website.

Jul 10 I sent seller another PM inquiry about the claim status and
received no reply.

Jul 15 starting calling the seller but kept getting..."Welcome to
Verizon...telephone service is unavailable at this time" message.

JUl 26 received PM from seller stating "shipper told me you need
you make the claim on your end. It's insured for $100..."

Since, as the receipient of the package, I can't file a Damage Claim
and since I can't contact the seller by phone and he doesn't reply
to recent PM's I'm frustrated. I was very hesitant about posting
this matter, but have run out of options. I'm not trying to impugn
anyone....just want to get the amp repaired.

If anyone can get a message to Ray (Magnaryder) please have him
give me a call...he has my telephone number.

Hopefully this transaction will still have a happy ending.... :( [-o< [

Dennis, That's Ray you are talking about. We all know him and his word is good. I know that's of no meaning to you but I will personally contact him. I have full faith that this will be worked out in short order. Ray is good folk.

Re: Where to Post???

Hopefully Ray will chime in, and help solve this issue.

As far as UPS, that is their shitty policy, the the person that shipped the package has to file the clain, and THEY will be the one to get any refund from UPS.
It is a slow drawn out process for sure.

If you paid via PayPal, you could always contact them if nohing else happens..

Ray is a pretty good guy, and I am sure he will help to make things right.
From the sounds of it, you bought the amp (through) Ray ?? You said it was shipped by someone else.
Have you been able to contact the actual shipper at all ??

I also moved the post over to "Buy/Sell/Trade for Newbies"
Sorry for the 50+ posts in the other forum. We'll have to work that out as well..

Re: Transaction Problem with Member

I received a call from Ray this morning and I think
we have things worked out to everyones satisfaction.

Ray offered to pay for the repair and shipping cost, but
we mutually agreed to each pay a portion of the total
cost as the repair at Bob & Rita's shop includes a full
restoration of the amplifier, which is actually a "value
received" to me over and above the damage repair cost.
And, I might even get one of the "priceless" Bob Carver
autographs on the amp. I think this is a fair solution.

Evidentially the shipper, who is a friend of Rays, was
giving him the wrong information about who files a damage
claim and did not insure the package as Ray had directed.

Anyway I now have the shipper's name and telephone number
so I'll be contacting him about the claim and any support
documentation that needs to be included. UPS should not
get off the hook for the damage on this one!

Dennis and I managed a solution....but...not without some trials and tribulations. I have some suggestions if you want to sell anything that isn't picked up in person. Please realize several things if you sell your highly prized Carver gear. Your gear may not meet your buyers expectations, it may not be flawless afterall most of our Carver gear is 10-15 years old...and that is being optimistic.

My idea of good condition will most not likely be the same as yours. I've owned this stuff for a while and "it always does that, sir" i.e. the start up buzz/click of a TFM power amp(well...all of mine anyway.) The 'new owner' may hear something you've gotten used to over the years.

Shit does happen between here and there. UPS drop kicks your amp. Lights won't work, transformer is loose, extruded panels get bent. I have a cassette deck that came to me with the door broken that the PO claims was intact when it left him. My first Lightstars arrived with a whole in the side of one of the boxes the size of a softball. Like I said...shit does happen.

Insure everything/for value + shipping + repair at High Tech or Rita's.

I'm really pissed off at the folks from UPS. I have shipped several amplifiers with them and neither has gotten to the recipient undamaged. My new Lightstars arrived with damaged packaging. They even managed to crush an empty Lightstar Direct box here at my house by setting the amplifier on top of it.

My .02 cents. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.
