Hmmmm.....Mullard CV4024/M8162. For 12AT7 applications, it doesn't get any better than that tube. Getting very hard to find these days.

Grab two cheap 12AT7's and see if that doesn't solve the issue. The CV4024 is the European equivalent to the 12AT7.

Is anyone interested in hearing the sunfire crs-3c speaker? If so, I will bring it. If not, I will just leave it home. Didn't know if this has been brought before.

No I only have the center at the moment. Not sure if I will get them for space isn't an issue and the GAF is high but that could always change.

Well maybe if someone else has a center we could make a pair. I was told that people are starting to use the center for all channels albeit 2 channel or HT.

Re: TFM-75 Vs Sunfire Cinema Grand Sig. multi channel amp

Post by Don » Thu Sep 02, 2010 8:11 am

Hey guys,

Is anyone bringing a Sunfire Cinema Grand Sig. multi channel amp (400X5) to Carverfest? I would like to compare my TFM-75 I am bringing on a set of Plat's 4, if they are also available. I assume we can run the Sunfire on two channels, but since I don't own one, I will leave that up to someone that has experience with this unit.

May want to pick one up at a later date to run as a multichannel amp in my home theatre setup and go in a different direction. Space is starting to get tight.  Therefore, I was wondering how it compares in just 2 channel stereo mode vs the TFM-75? #-o #-o

I have (2) 200x5's, a 300x2, a PT-2400, Silver-7t's, Lightstar 300x2's, Silver-6's, Silver-7's
but no 400x5's :(

I don't really plan on bringing a bunch of extra gear this year. We blew our load last year.
If you really want to hear something above, let me know now.

ALL TUBES AMPS STAY IN CABIN-12 IF ANYONE WANTS TO HEAR THEM ON THEIR SPEAKERS,
YOU HAVE TO BRING YOUR TOYS TO CABIN 12. THE AMPS COST MORE THAN YOUR SPEAKERS, DEAL WITH IT.

The 75 has a LOT more juice @ ohms (750 -vs- 400) but requires much more power at the wall to produce it (2x20 amp circuits). The Sunfire is more efficient at it's rated power & doesn't require as much amperage from the wall.

The multichannel amps can run 2 channel, biamp, or run all channels from one input (you could use one amp for Left, one amp for right, & drive 10 speakers)~

Rabbit,

Thanks for the info on the Sunfire. Not familiar with it at all. Hopefully one will be there so I can compare my TFM-75 I am bringing on a set of Plat's.

I'm looking forward to finally hearing the TFM-75. I've heard just about everything Carver, but that one has eluded me.
