Re: ALS Demo With Bob Carver, Bob Farinelli and Leslie Willi

I just noticed there was a lot of attention paid to videotaping the cutting of woofer holes, but I never saw any mention of cutting the ribbon holes...?

Also, I just noticed this in Alex's signature line: AL-III Plus "(now in the living room because Gramps broke his AL V's)"

The ribbons didn't have holes that needed to be cut, the slot that they mount into was designed into the extrusion.

Well, we all remember the Top Gun Experiance Nicole had at CF '08, she couldn't hear the music from the squeezebox so she turned the squeezebox all the way up, still no sound.... So she turned the Lightstar Pre all the way up, still no sound.... When I walked in, she asked me why nothing worked, I told her it was still on the input for the TV, so she turned the TV on and BLEW UP the left channel ribbon and woofer........ Dad and I fixed the ribbon there but the woofer never got fixed...

Here at the house gramps blew up the 2nd woofer playing it too loud, and now due to humidity, being abused and not being redone since '08 both ribbons need to be repaired... It was easier to pull my AL III's out of the garage instead of rebuilding the AL V's.

NOW, I think the AL III's are going back to the garage to be replaced with a set of ALS Speakers!!! \:D/
RIP BillD

Re: ALS Demo With Bob Carver, Bob Farinelli and Leslie Willi

Looking at the design of the speakers I dont believe there was any cutting involved with mounting the ribbons other than possibly a few holes in the channel for the wiring to hook up the drivers, and the mounting holes being drilled and tapped.

Re: ALS Demo With Bob Carver, Bob Farinelli and Leslie Willi

Today, Tomorrow and Monday I'll be wiring and putting together the CarverFest "show" set of ALS's
These things are going to look and sound AMAZING !!!!

If anyone doubts the 120dB claims, get your asses there and Demo them !!!
With my Lightstar 300x2, we could only get the drivers to run about 0.2" of excursion. leaving 0.3" MORE to go...
These speakers are honestly the best set I have ever heard to date. The imaging must be heard to be believed

And OmyGod, are these going to be one mean ass, sexy looking set of speakers !!!
Think Olivia Wilde in black leather sexy !!!

Re: ALS DEMO Bob Carver James Sauter Bob Farinelli Les Willi

I think we should have a DISCOUNTED forum member price! (ONLY) for those who have been a member since Dec of 2010 or before! ALSO it would come in kit forum - all the parts needed but Assembly required....No paint or cross-over etc just speaker parts. The buyer could take to a paint shop and due as they please - Pay full price on cross-over network or what ever...

OK, Enough trouble causing for me

MY QUESTION IS: Will there be a ALS SIGNATURE??? I think there should be a set that has something the other ones do-not!
Special paint job - LED lighting - Golden plate with Bob's signature what ever! Bob never did that with his speakers (Only amp's) Any thoughts on this?
BillD, You will be forever with us! RIP until we meet again on the other side...
