Thanks to a forum member I just scored a helluva deal on some originals and I mean helluva a deal in my opinion. Now I just have to make the time to make a round trip 18 hour road trip.

I also just scored a deal with the guy with the AL III and they weren't the plus model. He came down in price to a point that I felt it was a decent deal. Picking those up tomorrow.

Now I have to change my amp scheme. I'm going to upgrade the originals and use all 6 speakers in my HT for the time being and either get a def tech or cinema ribbon for the center.

Eventually I will move the the AL IIIs to the master bedroom when the next phase of the house is done and the upgrade origs. will be moved to the indoor pool room whenever we get to that phase.

So I'm exicted to get the AL IIIs hooked up to the M4.0t and the M500t for the time being for its been 2 years since I've had the pleasure of listening to anything carver.

Ultimately, I want to just get a 400x7 to make things easy to set up and run but thats gonna have to wait until after the first of the year before I can purchase one. If I can't find a use one I'm just gonna bite the bullet maybe and just purchase a new one.

In the meantime, if you guys have an amp configuartion you'd like to share I'm all eyes

Nice buy. Sunfire is the way to go on the ALIII's. Enjoy the great sound they make.

Remember the originals take up a LOT of power!! Mine are running on a sig II and untill I blew out one of the crossovers ( damm floyd wish you were here) Sometimes I felt the sig II still was running out of steam on them!

I know what I need next and thats a either a 600x2, a couple 300x2 like Big Tom, and or a 400x7. That would definitely make things easier in the long run. I could definitely get by with some nice Carver amps since those are a little easier to come by.

I'm sure the 4.0t is enough to run the bass but is the m500t big enough for the ribbons? From what I've read, some say yes and some say no. Could I bi-amp the ribbons with 2 m500ts with the 4.0t on the bass?

As far as the origs. and the plats, I'm toying with the idea of putting two on each side of the tv for 2 channel listening and getting another pair of something for the surrounds or I could use the origs. as surrounds. What do you guys think of that? I think I could use a couple 400x7s or 600x2. Wasn't really planning on having 2 more sets of speakers this fast but who does. Just kinda fell in my lap. I'm sure I will have some questions about hooking these up depending on how they are amped.

PS. You guys ever heard of Lori Line? Just got back from her concert. She's a pianist thats plays Christmas music. Those would be a good listen on the Carvers.

You don't want to do mono on a 4 ohm load. That will kill your M500t.

Just use one M500t on the subs and the M4.0t on the ribbons. Or you could use both M500t's like you said and biamp them. TNRabbit would be the one to verify what would be better. He is a good reference on how to setup ALIII's.

You should try each way and see what you like. That would be the answer Bob would say. Lets try it and see.
