Re: platnium speaker fix

$$$$$$$$

to fix 2 of my 60" would be 800+$$$$

these cost 300.00$ for both :)
when I can afford to get my real ribbons done I will do it then....
then I will use these current ribbons as xtra speakers. these are 4 ohm by the way

I was going to use my "good" ribbon as a center speaker but it seams to be dead, IE open...time and corrosion/oxidization has taken its toll....

working on getting some ribbons made, all I have to loose is my time if they don't work.
I did find a metalized foil film .001 thk. where I work that is conductive on one side. at 2' it is 8
ohm, but at 5' it is 15 ohm
I sent samples of various film structures out.
in thicknesses from .0006 to .0015 in various film structures

going to reglue my magnets back on as the glue that was used 20 years ago is letting go
any suggestions as to a better glue?

and to answer your ?

I'M CHEAP....LOL

DaveS uses Superglue to reglue the magnets. I used it when I rebuilt my ribbons, seems to hold well. Make sure that you get it in the right spot or you will break the magnet trying to remove it after the glue sets.

Re: platnium speaker fix

I used it when I rebuilt my ribbons,

so where, what did you use for ribbons?
and if I am looking at this right, one would reglue the new ribbon to the support. then as you clamp the 2 supports together the rods fit into the groove and this in turn pulls the ribbon to the proper tension? or do you have to pre tension or slightly loosen the ribbon????? before you mate to 2 half's together?
