got silvers today but!!!!!

Had to put them in a van with padded blankets underneath. Put them speakers facing down flat. Traveled about 45 miles fairly bumpy because of some bad roads but nothing bad. Went to unload them and when I picked them up I heard something that sounded like something broke apart and was in pieces inside the back chamber for the woofers. Hooked them up and they dont sound right kinda weak and when you turn them up they make some popping sounds. Took the back chamber off and part of the crossover had fallin apart. At the top of the crossover theres a deal about 4 in. long and round with connections at each end. The outside porceline had all fallin off. This freakin sucks. Is there anybody in the Seattle area that can fix these or any advise is much appreciated..........Matthew

Yes off of craigs. It was a hassle just getting them here. I will post a pic in a bit. Getting some thing to eat
Re: got silvers today but!!!!!
That's a resistor. There should have been an ohm value and watt rating printed on the outer casing, do you still have it?
BTW, that did not happen from transporting them, it was fucked already.

Re: got silvers today but!!!!!
I dont know when we picked them up there was no rattling sound from the pieces bouncing around. I noticed it as soon as I stood 1 up on its side when I got home. The casing that came off is all in tiny pieces. I blew all the tiny pieces out and its not making any popping sounds anymore. For now I have them hooked to a phase linear 400. Really not getting much volume. Are they that power hungry? I have a carver 2.0t that I will hook up tomorrow see how that does. I plan on a sunfire amp to go with the sunfire pre I should be getting tomorrow.
Re: got silvers today but!!!!!
Take the back off your other speaker, see what the specs are for that resistor and get a new one.
There is no 2.0t Carver amp.
What's loud to you? Have you measured the volume with an SPL meter?

Re: got silvers today but!!!!!
carver most certainly does make a 2.0t its the pm 2.0t. Iam looking at the manual right now does 600x2 @4ohm. The other speaker has the same crap bouncing around inside but I will check it and see whats going on.
Re: got silvers today but!!!!!
Yes, they are incredibly power hungry! Try the PM amp & see what you get...
and WELCOME~

The PM-2.0t is just an M-1.5t
It should sound like it isn't there!

Re: got silvers today but!!!!!
The M1.5t/M2.0 should be able to amplify the Silvers to a reasonable level. Yes, that resistor was fucked before you ever put it in your vehicle. Are you sure that you have the Silver edition ALS'?
There should be a 48" ribbon and three woofers per speaker if they are the Silvers. Also, for the crossover repair, you don't need to transport the entire speaker. Just the crossover. You will need a soldering iron, however. Were you able to get the resistor rating off the other speaker for that resistor?
[EDIT:] Can anybody here confirm that those are the original woofers? I'm having doubts here for some reason...

In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.
