Re: Carver Amazings Platinum (buyer?)
The simple answer is Plats.
The easiest way to distinguish them is that they have 3 POTS on the back. One for lows, mids, and highs. They also will have the papercone woofer. The plats are the easiest to push because they require less power. The original amazings are not that efficient and you will need to something powerful to really reach their full potential.
Other guys might chime in here and go much deeper in description. I know just the basics
On a side note, some people have modded their amazings and have double binding posts. One for the ribbons and one for the woofers.

Re: Carver Amazings Platinum (buyer?)
I think you may be confusing normal Plats with Mk.IVs (which have the three pots and only two binding posts). Regular plats don't have pots and four binding posts. What tells you that they are Plats is the 60" ribbon. THey may be upgraded from Originals if the woofers have flat cones and they have only two binding posts.
It should sound like it isn't there!

Yea I was thinking Mk,IVs in my head as I was writing but obviously failed to put it downBillD wrote:I think you may be confusing normal Plats with Mk.IVs (which have the three pots and only two binding posts). To answer one of the first questions:
I can't imagine paying $2500 for any Amazings; they sell all the time for between $800 and $1200.

Re: Carver Amazings Platinum (buyer?)
I'd think that pristine Platinums might go for $1500.

Not disagreeing with you, Bill; just noting that they DO sell for those prices frequently. Not like you can BEAT them for that price~

Re: Carver Amazings Platinum (buyer?)
does the hottie in the pic come with the Plats?
Re: Carver Amazings Platinum (buyer?)
For nearly 3 grand she better.
Re: Carver Amazings Platinum (buyer?)
I have "BRAND NEW" woofers - Just got em from Ada yesterday 7/13 being they were a one day delivery to here and I would sell my Platinum's right now for $1250 in near mint looking condition however no chicks come in the Deal and I think $1500 is fair for a good pair! I also have a electronic crossover that comes with them so 300 Hz would be possible as to help take bass off those ribbons from the 150 Hz there at with the original crossover.tah800 wrote:For nearly 3 grand she better.
