Ok now I need some real Help

Post by wrstps » Thu Jun 24, 2010 7:49 pm

Ok here's the story...I got these off of craigs list from a local seller for 100.00. The woofers are shot, however the ribbons are perfect. are there replacement woofers that are recommended or should I get them refomed. One more question what model are these? they actually sound pretty good as long as I don't push them too hard.

They look like an early version of stock Silver edition ALS. Can't tell from the pic what version of Silvers they are though.

You really got a great deal on those speakers! It's a shame they don't have the rubber surrounds like on the Polks. They seem to last forever!

Well I'm going to wait for the OEM replacements,This will also give me time to refinish the wood. I just had Rolland go over one of my PM.1.5s and make some mods (he did a great job by the way) but at 89.00 per speaker I had to take the time yesterday to lube my pry-bar in the garage so that when my wife sticks her foot in my butt I can pull it out a little easier. Thanks to all for the help.

You could always tell her that a nice pair of Silvers in excellent condition goes for $8-$900.00 and that you made a smart decision by buying a defective speaker and doing the DIY route to save lots of money. Congrat's on your purchase.
