ALS support/stand just broke. Any advice or tips on repair?

Hi guys,

As stated in the title, the support stand broke on one of the ALSs a few minutes ago. I was moving the speaker and the screws pulled from the speaker as I leaned it back onto it's bracket. The speaker didn't fall, thankfully.

So are there any tips about the repair? Obviously new screws are in the cards and new holes too. So I have to slide the bracket sideways a pinch so the screws can grab fresh material. Anything else? I was consider supplementing the screws with some epoxy adhesive on the bracket, to take some of the pressure off the screws.

Any advice appreciated.

Buy threaded inserts, install them in all of the original holes. Buy bolts with the matching thread pattern and install. Never worry about it again.

Ok, I'll look into that with a trip to Home Depot. Or are you talking about a HeliCoil-type product?

Aren't HeliCoil products meant to used in metal? I'm talking about an insert designed to be used in MDF type material.

I made a post about this issue some time ago, if you feel like searching for it.

Get brass threaded inserts... any wood working store will have them.
Homies has them in the special drawers I think.

You can get those in stainless steel; they don't strip out as easily~

if you cant find them, you can drill new holes into the steel frame, in a different location.....
but I'm cheap that way....

You could just buy some Hurricane Nuts too.

I went with the quick fix, just used bigger woodscrews, #12x1". Everything is tight.
