hi All. I recently picked up a sweet and juicy like these nutz. paid of Original ALS. I know that they can dip down into 2 ohm territory and i need monoblocks likely. There is a pair of Carver 1.5 amps around locally. Can i bridge them and if so would they serve well as bridged monos for my new Carver ALS Originals? Thank you in advance. HS (newbie)
Re: Carver original ALS
Bridged amps will not work with those speakers.

You should look for something with high current with decent power spec's
Re: Carver original ALS
At first I just ran mine off the M-400 and then when the 1.0t came out I got one and ran both together running my original ALS's

WELCOME!!!!
A Sunfire amp will do the trick!!!
A Sunfire amp will do the trick!!!In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!
Re: Carver original ALS suitable amp
thanks to all who replied. One of you said you can't use bridged amp with Carver Original AL.
Why is that!!! By the way i found out that the amps the seller has are PM 1.5 so maybe one stereo amp might be adequate to run my speakers? Thanks and good day!

Welcome to the forum!
That amp is not rated to be bridged into that ohm. Most amps specify that the speaker must be an 8 ohm average and yours are 4 ohm that drops to 2 at times. The amp cannot handle that impedance while bridged and it can damage the amp.
Hope this answers your question.

I tried that with my originals and it shut that amp off every time I tried to use it. for a bit i ran mine off a qsc amp till i got a sunfire sig.
Re: Carver original ALS
no closer to finding an amp / amps for my new Original Carvers although the concensus appears to be unaminously pointing towards the Sunfire amp. I'm keeping my eyes out for one locally.
There is a pair of Adcom 565 monos locally that have the requisite refurbed of leaky caps done. They are an authorized Adcom electronics repair service. They were good enough to send me a detailed email of all the overhaul work performed. The specs on these 565 monoblocks appear to be good...but good enough to drive the Carver Originals??? Anyone have experience with them and the original ALS??
Thnx. HS

It's not that you CAN'T use a bridged amp; more that you SHOULDN'T....
Tends to sound like a mess. The Orginals present a challenging load to an UNBRIDGED amp...

Re: Carver original ALS
I would also suggest a set of Carver Silver 7t or 9t amps. They would drive those speakers very nicely. Though they do not come cheep. I know Toy Maker has a set of Carver Silver 7t's for sale.

Re: Carver original ALS
Welcome to the forum! Sunfire or the silver 7/9t mono blocks would be a first choice of course but I've got an Adcom GFA 555 for sale on eBay right now, it's 2ohm stable and high current. Good luck!

I'd go $325 shipped, outside of ebay but through paypal.
