Carver Amazing foam surrounds

I think several people in this forum recently bought the Carver Amazing foam surround that became available on eBay. I just got mine and they seem to be the right size. If you've got some of these, what do you think of them and can you offer any tips for the re-foam job? I've been able to successfully re-foam other speakers without having to cut the dustcap or using shims around the voice coils, has anybody here been able to do that successfully with the Amazing woofers? Any other tips and help is greatly appreciated!

I did check them out they seem ok .But have not had the time to do a woofer yet.I seldom if ever remove the dustcap and shim the coil I am hoping these are no exception to the rule.

Did you ever try making the repair? I am trying to decide between reforming using surrounds from simplyspeakers.com or buying new replacement drivers.

Harry will be along to comment, but yes, he's done a number of them. As a supervisor to some of his work, :^o my thought would be that it's not too hard to do.

The knowledge of how is certainly here. And it sure is going to be cheaper and leave some money for something else....

Sea, this thread is quite old so to update Mark supervised me  during Carverfest 2013 at that time I refoamed 8 amazing woofers for Angelo they were a peace of cake with no problems at all . I did not remove the dust caps and had no reason to shim the coils. All in all I did not find the refoam difficult .

Thanks, that is good to know. I have reformed advent drivers several times with good success. For some reason it seems like people are reluctant to reform these or maybe the proper surround style was not available until the last few years. Based on the specs on simplyspeakers.com and my measurements it looks like a perfect fit.
