Platinum's needing repair?

Post by pappucho » Tue Aug 17, 2004 9:55 pm

Hello, I am the proud owner of a pair of Platinum's that my father decided he no longer needed. These were originally "original's" which were later upgraded to the Platinum's by upgrading the ribbons. One of the driver's stopped working after the upgrade and was never repaired. I opened her up and tried to troubleshoot the potential problem. At first I was happy to see that the ribbon driver assembly was not fully connected or had come disconnect sometime after getting the back from the upgrade. I quickly connected the driver back (using the working speaker as a reference) to where it should be and soldered the joint. It didn't work. So, I tried connecting the driver to the working unit's crossover and still nothing. There just isnt' sound coming from the driver at all. There isn't any visible damage to the foil area. Anyone have any input they can share as to what it can be?
