The shape and dimensions of the amazing's baffles were of critical importance. Since the 4 woofers were identical and were not used in a traditional way (no box), their front and rear outputs cancel each other out at most frequencies. The slant on the 1 side was to stagger these cancel out frequencies and thus re-enforce those frequencies was determined through a series of complex calculations as much as the actual woofer parameters were well out of the norm. In fact, the manufacturer who made these refused to build them at first, their acoustical and electrical properties were so weird. Bob Carver had to assure them over and over again that this was the exact design he wanted before they would build them.
This was why I was so adamant in asking for exact dimensions and mounting hole positions of the speakers at the beginning of this thread rather than asking for pictures.
I seem to remember some sort of technical document on here explaining Bob Carver's thinking when he designed and built the Original Amazings. Should really try and find a copy of this to read again.

if thats what you need, no problem.
little on the drunkin side tonight tho.
in the AM(PM if bad hungover) will run a stringline to provide correct centers.
will also provide correct, accurate dimensions.
Marc.
if you were to follow the same angle, only on a smaller trapazoid(with 2 woofs) would the wave cancellation factor not be the same?

AudioAssassin has Silvers (3 woofers); I thought you were building Originals or Plats (4 woofers).

DUH!!!! I must be drunkener than AA77 Maxxx.
You are correct; he just bought a pair of originals a few weeks ago and has a bad ribbon to fix or replace. I have no idea why I even thought that he had Silvers ....

Not quite Kris. The angle and spacing were calculated for the specific woofer parameters and for 3 woofers, not 2. I know that I have some technical info about how he ultimately arrived at those specific measurements, but for the life of me, I can't remember where I put it. I'll have to look for it in the morning.

(have to ask again) anyone here want to part with a(prefer 2, need one for a center!)30" ribbon?
all i need is two 30"ers and another pair of ALIIIs and ill have completed my 7 channel ribbon dream

boy.
must be the holidays to have the shakes this bad
.
hope i havnt held you up too muck
.
here goes for your measurements
(all taken from right side pannel( straight side on left)
top left to top right~ 27"
bottom left to bottom right~ 34"
(my degree finder is at work and im not. if you need it i can get the exact angle for you next year
.)
ribbon cutout centerline is 3 3/4" in from straight(non angled) edge of pannel.
cutout is 3 1/2" wide.
cutout is 4 3/4" up from bottom of pannel
woofer center is 15" in from vertical side of pannel.
15 1/4" to center of bottom woofer when measured from bottom of pannel.
hope this helps get you started!
good luck!
