Sonic differences between R&L?

Post by rolereversal » Wed May 14, 2008 12:08 pm

So when trying to set up my center speaker (using an EQ to try and match the left - rights, best as I can, seeing as I am splitting the ribbon and the bottom end with an old kenwood sub 'tis not the best, but I do have other plans down the road...more on that later)....Anyway...
I run pink noise from my HT rec, in doing so I hear a difference of tone between the left and right speakers....
I did notice this before the upgrade of the new woofers, wire and binding posts.
Just wonder how many of you can hear if your left and rights vary a bit? Is this common to most all speakers? Perhaps the room is playing a part of it as well?
:-k

I've never heard the same from a pair of speakers, but my right ear is down some in the uppermost frequencies. Also, the room will change the characteristics, too. Put them side by side in the middle of the room & run the same test....

I hear a slight difference in my Plats, but figured it was due to the left ribbon being 1 yr old and the right 20 yrs old.

No' seriously Gary.
A month ago at work I almost picked up a 12' bar of steel and knocked the intercom loudspeakers off the ceiling in my area because they were turned up so loud. Even with my earplugs in they would scare the crap out of me. I had maintenance turn them down but the damage is done. I'll be going to see a specialist here in a few weeks.
