Wanting to build a pair of Platinum's

Post by Phil Devenish » Thu Mar 17, 2005 3:39 am

Due to the ridiculous costs of shipping (USA to South Africa), I'm not able to justify the expense of importing a pair of Platinum's. Plan B would be to source the drivers, ribbons, crossovers and schematics from the USA,
import those and have the boards built locally. Hopefully I'll have sufficient knowledge to assemble to speakers here.....

Could anyone out there be able to assist in this regard,

Much appreciated,

Well, in my opinion without the cabinetry, its really not an Amazing Loudspeaker. The appeal of these speakers are not really in the drivers, or the crossover; its in the overall price/performance of the unit as a whole and the beautiful "piano" look to them

If you are going to tear the unit from its housing, then you can build a far better speaker using B + G drivers, upgraded woofers, and an active crossover network. I would hold out for when you can find a pair closer to home.
