Help --> My Carver Plat MKIV has Ribbon Alignment Problem
I've been enjoying my Plats MKIV for quite a while now and I noticed that the sound come from both ribbons are not quite the same. I put my pre (Pioneer C90) on mono mode so both speakers should be playing the same tone. I've set the Mid and High adjustable knobs to all max for speakers. So, both speakers should have close enough sound to each other but I noticed the right ones being a bit more brighter and clearer than the left one.
Upon close inspection, I noticed that the ribbon on the Left speaker does not completely aligned as the other one. I've lessen the screws on that ribbon and tried to tighten again but these ribbons doesn't move. Due to this out of alignment, the ribbons are kind of partially hidden in the middle track and on the outer track where the ribbons should be completely visible as in the right speaker.
I am suspecting that may be the cause of the problem since the ribbons are not playing freely as it should be and lessen the amount of sound it should produce.
Do you have any fix for that or how do I go about to re-align the ribbons on this?
Much Appreciated for your kind inputs!
