Binding Post Mess

I had posted some pictures of a set of converted Original on a post NEED GOOD ADVICE. I have since removed the plastic insert which holds the posts and found such a mess that I don't think I can fix it. I'm thinking about dumping the fuse altogether and just wiring direct. My Originals are like this and I've never had any problems. Wondering what your take would be on that. I'm replacing the posts anyway so I could cut the mess out of there and install the new ones. I'd just as soon forget the fuse. The original owner had broken all the little clips off the fuse that you soldered to.It would make my life a whole lot simpler just to forget it. I also wondered if anyone had a set of the little plastic piece that holds the binding posts with or without the original fuses. Ones off an Original would be fine as I don't want to include the fuse anyway

I'd keep a fuse (or two). You can get some plates form Parts Express like THESE or THESE

If you go with just the plates, I really like THESE 5-way binding posts for bare wire, spades or bananas. I used them in my M-500 refurb.

Bill,are the ones that look just the same as those on the Carver Amazings the same size also or would I have to modify the hole in the rear coovers. Art

Do not know. You'll have to measure.

Art can you clean up the cups and then put new binding post in them? The factory cups are hard to find! Their size is an off beat one! Eddie!

Or replace it with four posts and bi-amp.

You might see if Zoothorn will sell you the parts from his ALS upgrade. Just a thought.

Saw these on Parts Express .com. Think they might be the same size as the originals.

Art......I just measured my Originals and it looks like the parts express one are almost identical.
The outside dimensions, and cut out seems to be the same.
These are on the same page, with same measurements, but look like they may be a little better quality...gold plated.

Just checked with Parts Express. binding post holder is identical to the ones on the Carver Speakers. They are 3.49 a piece. The problem is they want $22.50 american to ship them to me. Add the GST at the border I'm probably looking at $20 a piece for these things. I can't understand how it would cost that much to ship something that would probably fit in a big envelope. Getting anything to Canada seems to cost you more than the item itself.

Art....no shit its costly. My last speaker build cost me $1995 for parts.....$450 FOR SHIPPING!!....and about $150 for duty.
Thats almost 1/3 the cost of the kit.

Don't you know anyone in Maine that can buy it for you?

Even if I did gas to drive there(.97 a litr close to 4 bucks a gallon would probably cost me more if I threw in the price of a meal too.

I just checked the ones I have and they are the same!
