Re: Phase Linear Andromeda Bob Carver Speakers & Subwoofer
I will say this about these speakers: when it says 100 watts minimum it's not kiding. Sounds bad if you feed it anything less. The sound from these speakers is very good but weird. 4 - upward firing tweeters (they stick out the front and back of the speaker.), 1 - forward firing soft dome tweeter, 1 - 4" mid forward firing, 1 - 4" mid firing backwards, and 2 - forward firing 8" woofers. The sound is omni present. This is a open baffle speaker design. The sub is the size of an end table with 2 - 12" woffers ported. You put your ear to the speaker to listen for each devices sound and it can be difficult to distinguish. Back firing mids will probably need new foam. Not you normal style of foam thou. It is rippled.

Taz, this place shows the rippled surounds on their diagram, maybe they could get you squared away with those drivers. Good Luck !!

Re: Phase Linear Andromeda Bob Carver Speakers & Subwoofer
If anyone know what brand of mid is on the Andromeda please let me know. The speaker shops are confuse at what type of surround material is being used. Most quote foam. It looks like a lamented cloth to me but these speakers are old.
Thanks

Re: Phase Linear Andromeda Bob Carver Speakers & Subwoofer
Not too long ago (last month) I was talking to Bob and he told me someone dropped a pair of those off at Rita`s for overhaul. I`m not sure if was the mids or the tweeters that they couldnot find, but he did say that they put a set of the little ribbons in to replace them and all was well in CarverLand again. He told me they were a very good replacement considering the speakers they needed were no longer available.
Try giving them a call and ask to talk to Bob, I`m sure he will be happy to help you out anyway he can, and will be able to tell you of any resistors or other dodads that you might have to add.

Re: Phase Linear Andromeda Bob Carver Speakers & Subwoofer
The pair of Andromeda I once had also had the lighter colored grille cloths like yours, Roy, not the dark ones as were shown in the earlier picture. Have you found an MCM (Motion Control Module) yet?
