What are the best music tracks to demo ALS?

Just wondering whethere there is any consensus on what are some of the best music materials that can demo the performance of the ALS to its full capability. Especially materials that would make the ALS shine better than its natural competitions?

Can you play an MP3 on your system?? If so, DL this and play it !!!
It still given me goose bumps on my speakers. 100% guarranteed to wake your ribbons up !

Right click, save file as:
http://www.carveraudio.com/music/LinusLucy.mp3

There are many versions, but this is the best sounding version I ahve heard yet. (same as the link above)

The album "The Wall" by Pink Floyd. Most anything by Alison Krause or Diana Krall. "The Royal Scam" by Steely Dan. "Chain Reaction" by the Crusaders. "Hypntized" from the Pointer Sisters Energy album, and one Radioengineer put on his Fest CD from last year, "Body Language" by Queen.

Chopin is excellent.

Pink Floyd- PULSE

Madonna -Ray of Light

Laurie Mayer Black Lining

These are my favorite ones for testing Carver speakers I acquire. They will let you know if you will need ribbons. If the ribbons are good, sit back and enjoy.

Toymaker,

Yes, I can either play that off my PS3 or from the HTPC. I'll definitely download and try tonight.

Thanks

Skip,

I've a couple of Diana Krall album in DVD Audio 96/24 which I've tried. I agree that they are a joy to listen to, especially compare to what I used to hear from my old speakers before the ALS.
I'll check to see whether I have some of your other suggestion at home this wk end.

THanks,

Re: What are the best music tracks to demo ALS?

Multiple votes for both Alison Krause and Pink Floyd already, looks like I must get some of those.

BTW, Beemers and TNRabbit what do you guys mean by these materials would test and hurt the ribbons? Reason for asking is my left ribbon is kind of half broken when I got these ALSs, so I've temporally fixed it with some 3M Al EMI shielding tape with conductive adhesive backing.

They put a strain on ribbons at high volumes; they are good tracks for testing to see if your ribbons have issues.

anything with the spoken human voice. the sibilants will cause a bad ribbon to make a gawd awful noise. Fran Drescher gives 'em fits.

It is funny you mention this, I use that entire cd of happy anniversary Charlie Brown when I demo speakers. It has about everything you could ask for. If anyone would like a copy,,, let me know.
