I have purchased many items that have said NO SHIPPING, if the seller is not getting any other offers
its amazing what a firm offer does.
No cartridge, that give Doug lots of options.

That's also true Brian. Even if he won't ship, maybe you could arrange a pickup and ship it to Doug?

Excellent tubes Brian! Are your 6H23's the ones with the rocket logo? Also are your Telefunken 12AX7's smooth or ribbed plate?

No the 6H23's have a bowler had logo. As for the telefunken I can not remember if the ones in the pre are ribbed or smooth
the spare set I have are ribbed.

I'm at it again. My line section is locked in with Amperex Holland made 7308's (this is MY tube!!! Early 60's Siemens CCA is a very very close second ), still running my Mullard 10M 12AX7's and a single Siemens 6922 in the phono section but the 3 Amperex orange globe 6DJ8's that were in v1,v2 and v3 in my phono section have been replaced by Valvo 6922's and then I'll try 3 Amperex PQ 6922's in those sockets. Details to come.

I pulled out the Valvos and replaced them with the 3 Amperex 6922's. These work better for me. Better transparency and they do more for the soundstage.

I'm at it again! Nothing has changed with the linestage, I still have 3 Amperex Holland 7308's making beautiful music in there. My phone section has been great with 2 Mulland 10M 12ax7's and 4 Amperex USA 6922's giving excellent detail and clarity, a huge soundstage, nice decay to the notes and everything just sounding right. Those who know me well know I'm always on the tube hunt searching for good deals on tube I like or looking for something that I have never tried. Well I recently landed some late 60's early 70's Siemens CCA 6922 "A" frames. These babies while not quite as good as the early 60's gray shield Siemens cca's, are some really great tubes and I feel are only bettered by the Amperex Holland 7308 and the early 60's Siemens cca. So I replaced all the Amperex tubes in the phonograph section with the Siemens and I wasn't surprised by the results but then again I was. As expected the imaging was much sharper and the detail was greater. The bass wasn't quite as deep as the Amperex but this is a small margin but more articulate. Now what surprised me was the soundstage being on equal footing with the Amperex. This could be a result of them working with the Mullards as opposed to working by themselves. The attack and decay of notes were much better too. The top end had more sparkle and air but the image focus was just amazing! Tube rolling is a blast!!!

I ordered some Tesla E83cc's and they came today. I had heard these were exact copies of the rare and ultra expensive Telefunken 803s 12ax7. From what I read they sound identical. I have looked at pictures of both tubes and the do appear to be constructed the same. The only difference is the Tesla's were produced in huge quantities and are waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy cheaper. So I spent some time today listening to some favorite albums through my Mulland 10M's then switched to the Tesla's. At first while listening to Pat Metheny I could hear only a slight difference between the tubes, a lower noise floor and maybe a touch more realism to the instruments. Then I switched to Stanley Clarke and wow! Maybe the tubes warmed up more but I could hear a much clearer difference now. Beautiful! !!! The sound was so rich , detailed , transparent and seductive. I spent the whole day right up to the time to pick my daughter up from school listening to music. Now do I think the Tesla is a big leap from the 10M? No but it is the better tube in my opinion. Would I spend $1000.00 on the Telefunken? No , it's not THAT superior to the 10M to me. I found the Tesla's for $120.00 a pair shipped. If you go hunting for a set remember look for Tesla E83cc's not the Tesla 803s. The Tesla 803s is a plate construction 12ax7, the Tesla E83cc and the Telefunken 803s are frame grid designs and seems to be the only 2 12ax7 ever made using frame grids.
