Sunfire TGA-7401

Post by nooshinjohn » Mon May 14, 2012 9:30 pm

Are there any performance differences between these amps and the Signatures? I just scored a nice one for 2k off the dreaded Eprey site, and want to know if I did good before I part ways with the 425/5. The amp will be powering my Magnepan MG-20's until the end of the month, when my tubes come online. \:D/

It already has a new home, but I will be taking it with me when I see Bob so it can be signed for the new owner. The TGA will be signed as well. For some reason these amps just look naked without the gold pen on the front. 8)

I don't know anyone who owns a TGA amp, so couldn't tell ya.

We've mostly avoided them as they were produced in CHINA.

I've got the 7200 in my system now, sounds just like my 225x5. Spec wise they're rated @ 1khz so not quite as much power. :?

Just spoke with Bill at Bob's repair shop... he is of the opinion that the TGA 7401 is as good as and maybe even better than the Sig series. I will make that comparision for myself next week and let you guys know. One thing I know I will miss is the joule meter. :)

John, I have a 5400. I got tired of waiting to find a 7400.

As to the 5400 I plugged it in about 3 years ago & forgot it. It a is silent & unobtusive box of power.

Sounds great & hasn't even hiccupped so far.

In other words really really good.

Cograts on your find.

P.S. are now living in Socal? If so where ?
