I also ordered a Audio Horizons platinum power cord that Joseph built and he completed it today and said he fired up the pre!
and that was all he said!! I'm quite curious about the Vacuum state super regulator and tube power supply.

Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.

He said he found a couple open traces. And he's firing it up later tonight. I think he has it just about all assembled. He sent a couple pics just about an hour ago! This bitch is looking monstrous!!! ( in a good way! )

Joseph just sent an email saying he's getting a red light after turning it on. It first powers up and you get the yellow mute light, then a few seconds you hear a couple relays and then a blue light.. Hmm.. I've never seen a red light.

Drama!! Man.. This going to be sweet! This pre amp and silver sevens! What a way to book end Bob Carver!

I had a chance to speak with him a few days ago and I swear it was like talking with an old friend. He is really a very nice man and I enjoyed every nano second of it.

I want to get these projects wrapped up and I am seriously considering lugging all this shit to Carverfest!

Joseph is leaving for a couple months and just today he sent these pictures. Super Regulator installed and he did some tests for noise and fixed the gain when the tone controls were engaged. This is LOTR epic!! Wow....Last update of '16!

106db SNR and we have even more tricks to implement! That's just the tube and super Regulator along with a 4 stage choke and filter. Still have the Bybee rails and Audio Magic to install plus JC hasn't even started tweaking it yet.

New XLR output Jacks

Post by Miko1971 » Thu May 04, 2017 8:53 pm

A little more progress! Upgraded the XLR outputs to super grounded special Neutricks, them bad boys popped right in with minimum fuss! These have a metal outer ring and 8 grounding points on each one.

Joseph is pretty much a one man show... he's been dealing with some health issues also. In respect of his privacy I won't elaborate. The result is that he cannot work on equipment as much as he would like in a course of a day. I've come to know him pretty well on this epic quest and one thing I've learned is that if he isn't happy with something then nothing is going down until he gets it squared away.

I agree, it's been many months and many thousands of dollars in the making. We are almost finished.he's gotta button up the power supply and test it. It is working and if you see a few posts back he supplied some SNR results. Working with people on these projects, you'd better adjust how you view time. I have a custom wood worker building new risers for my SoundLabs.... that's going on 4 months.
