On the binding posts, if anyone wants to install upgrade posts in their speakers or stands, I'll give you a 20% discount for Carverfest on the following copper binding posts.
Cardas CCBP
Cardas CCGG
Cardas CCRR
Cardas CCGR
Vampire Wire BPHEX CB

On mine, I'll be installing a set of the Vampire Wire BPHEX CB on each speaker and each stand. I'll be very interested to hear if there is any difference between the two different ways of feeding signal to the speakers. I'll use my Pro Co RMS-1 speaker cable switcher, and run a pair of speaker cables to the stands, with the wiring through the mini xlr's, as well as another identical pair directly to the speakers. This should be a fun experiment :)
Sunfire: Theater Grand IV, Cinema Grand Signature.
Carver: TFM-45, PST-24 Cassette, Extra Carver Gear: CT-6, C-11 (S/N 00001).
Polk Audio: Mains SRS 2.1TL, Center CSiA6, Surrounds FXiA6 and FXiA4, Sub DSW MicroPro 1000, Extra Speakers SDA 2A, SDA 2Btl, Monitor 10A.
Turntable: Dual CS 714Q
Bluray/SACD: Oppo BDP 83SE
CD: Sony 330 300 Disk changer

Balancing the risk of insulting overkill vs. complete clarity, I would just mention that once the rear openings are drilled out by the kit builder, those holes can't be left unfilled. So be sure you really mean it.

Is there any problem installing both the bottom XLR and rear mount binding posts at the same time? That would allow more versatility for the speaker.

No problem at all packratt - you just parallel them together, with 2 short, extra wires. I think I'm going to install the posts on mine, but not sure - you could always add them later, though that would be a little messy - better to do the drilling before there's anything installed in the chassis. The last thing that goes in is a bunch if fiber-fill, and certainly that would need to come out before any drilling took place. Aluminum bits would get everywhere.
All units will have the bottom cover machined for the mini xlr plug, so you have to install that plug just to seal the opening, even if you don't use it.

ODT - You won't hear any difference from one input to the other, unless you have a very vivid imagination, or sit in a slightly different position. Electrically the inputs are identical.

It fully depends on wheither you plan on moving them around and/or off the stands.
I personally will only be using the stands james and i are machining, and install the binding posts in the stand.
However, if you want to use the speakers off of the stands and on a flat surface, it would be wise to order a 2nd set of binding posts for the speakers and install them at a later date.
As Robert mentioned, this will cause a mess, I would open the bottom and insert a piece of paper between where the holes are to be drilled and the rest of the speaker to keep the aluminum out of the cabinet.
Less mess, easy clean up that way. :)

For the sets that were purchased without stands, both the binding posts and XLR are required, as the XLR will seal the cabinet and the binding posts will be your main terminals.

If I bring a second set can I install at the fest?? A pair just like the ones you posted as I use them all the time for my tube amps. Two small holes? right? With insulators.

For those not attending CF and having them shipped. When will the shipping take place? I'm going to be out of town until end of the month and want to leave word about the packages.

Wish I could but I'm going to be working on the new house. I can guarantee you're going to have more fun than me. If the rain stays away I'm going to get beat to pieces running a ditch witch through rock getting the water line in. If not that I'll be pulling wire.

James thanks for the detailed instructions. Hope someone was able to take some photos of each step during assemble. It would sure help those of us who are more visually oriented and were not able to be there 8-[
