CF Weather outlook

Post by radioeng2 » Sun Aug 21, 2016 10:35 am

Looking at the wx models both in the 6-10 day and out to 3-4 week projections, the NWS is calling for a little above average temps and below average rainfall likelyhood.

Over the hill here to the north, this past week turned a bit rainy and in the coming days we're finally getting a temp break. We've been running afternoons in the high 90's, but the coming days will be about 10 cooler for now. It's been generally hot and dry. The NWS calls for a drought to continue in general to the south from here.

Usually, the temp start to break and cool about the time we head to CF. Generally, we have a couple rainy days and some cool mornings. A light jacket covers the vast majority of either needs and an umbrella might get used if you have one. Seems like over the years there, a few fully rainy days while we've been there, but more often the precip will be a few hours and then we can get out and move around again.

But the muggy conditions I've been in for a while here gives reason to look forward to the typical very nice temps we get on the hill. The hot summer gives that much more reason to think ahead to those wonderful days hanging around the deck.

After a nice couple of cooler days and much better humidity levels, we've climbed back warmer. But still knocked off a few degrees from the last several weeks.

Looking out about 10 days...pretty far towards fest time...we're looking at day highs around 92-93 and morning lows around 71-72. And pretty dry through the period.

Over the mountain and on the hill at Bryson City, we can knock off a few degrees from what those are.

Likely, we'll see muggy and fairly warm this year looks like, though we can probably expect some fronts passing a couple times and cooling trend each time with those before we end the whole thing. Hoping I think for the major portion to be dry. Those tropical depressions in the gulf and further out, and their paths, probably ultimately hold our fate.

It looks like Ol' George may get that pool filled up soon! That tropical depression is headed his way later this week.

If you're not ready yet George, ya might wantta pull the plug before it gets there....Better stop settin' at the beach watchin' the bikini's....and get ready! I'm worried about 'cha!

It's starting to be more and more fall like!!! Which means time for CarverFest!! Here comes the 10th Annual get together......

A cool down takes place tomorrow here on the north side of the mountains. We are continueing a step down every few days lately. A couple weeks ago, blistering hot and way to humid. Little by little now, we're stepping towards fall and time to hang out on the beautiful decks of the cabins in the NC mountains. Here is the forecast for the north side of the mountains for later this week...just prior to CF...(remember to knock off a few degrees for the higher elevations at Bryson City...)

Friday - Sunny, with a high near 83.

Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 61.

Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 85.

Saturday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 63.

Sunday - Sunny, with a high near 86.

Sunday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 64.

Labor Day - Sunny, with a high near 87.

Just think about a nice quiet morning on the deck with the sun coming up and the temp around 60 degrees. A nice steaming mug of coffee and the birds singing in the trees....

Tropical Depression #9 (not to be confused with Love Potion #9) has been upgraded to Tropical Storm status....now named officially as Tropical Storm Fill Up George's Pool!! It's makin' a beeline for that new construction!!

Image

Tomorrow night, George is gonna be standing in front of that shiny new pool...screaming into the storm, hair going every which way...."go away...go away....we never had anything like this in Georgia...go away...this is MY new pool!"

Run for cover George! Pack you're bags and head for the hills!! The NC hills....escape while you can!!
