I had my TG1 setup in 5.1 for a bit. Sounded good. I don't have a room large enough for 7.1.
Some cool Carver stuff!

Did it once about 4 years ago. Not enough recordings now that it makes any difference. 5.1 set up WELL is plenty for now.

I agree too!! Right now, I feel it was a waste of equipment. The benefits just doesn't out weigh the means. The 5.1 in my room is more than suffice.

Maybe in the future as things become more standard in 7.1

I'm holding out for 11.4

I figure it will be the STANDARD by 2040....

I'm using the full 7.1 on my system at times. Feeding the fronts, center, and rear's through the sig, and the sides through a TFM-45. Some Blurays are wonderful with the system. I usually run just the 5.1 though if watching movies etc. from direct tv.
Sunfire: Theater Grand IV, Cinema Grand Signature.
Carver: TFM-45, PST-24 Cassette, Extra Carver Gear: CT-6, C-11 (S/N 00001).
Polk Audio: Mains SRS 2.1TL, Center CSiA6, Surrounds FXiA6 and FXiA4, Sub DSW MicroPro 1000, Extra Speakers SDA 2A, SDA 2Btl, Monitor 10A.
Turntable: Dual CS 714Q
Bluray/SACD: Oppo BDP 83SE
CD: Sony 330 300 Disk changer

thanks for all of your comments. I have a spare Carver amp and spare speakers so there really isn't any reason not to set it up and try it. don't see a lot of dvd's in 7.1.... but I will be ready when I find one.

ht is part of a large room ( 40+ft front to back ) so I will have fun moving speakers for the extra channels. right now I have the surrounds to the side and slightly to the rear of the listening area.

2040.? .. ..I will be 96 and my hearing may not be good enough for the extra channels...
